He attended school in Benton and Fairfield and then joined the Marine Corps in November 1954, where he was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and U.H. Service Medal. In 1954, he married Annette (Joler) White, and they had seven children together. Then, in March 1981, he married Shirley Tardiff of Fairfield, whom he loved very much and shared a wonderful life of 30 years with.
George had many jobs over the years, including driving a truck, working for Keyes Fiber, Waterville Window, Avian Farms and delivering flowers for Flo's Flower Cart. He enjoyed the work very much and loved seeing the bright smiles that the flowers brought to people.
His hobbies included playing Wii bowling, being a frustrated but devoted Red Sox fan, avid reading, golfing and watching Patriots football games. He will be sadly missed by his canine companion, Casco, who was his pal and buddy and went everywhere with him. They especially enjoyed going for walks and rides in the car. George was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion of Fairfield.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Shirley Buzzell, of Waterville; his brother, Joseph Buzzell and wife Priscilla of Benton; his sister, Joyce Wheeler, of Norridgewock; nine children, David Buzzell and wife Manuela of Georgia, Richard Buzzell and wife Laurie of Clinton, Rose LeClair and husband Steve of Hinkley, Donna Melhuish of Pennsylvania, Anne Buzzell of Lewiston, Brenda Miranda and husband David of Florida, Steven Buzzell and girlfriend Michele Dubois of Waterville, Tammy Gannaway-Kerr and husband Chris of Pittsfield, and stepson Jeff Fortier of New Jersey; and stepchildren Cyndi Backer, Debbie Sullivan and Steve Poulin, of Oregon; 19 grandchildren, Aaron, Ashlee, Cameron, Casie, Chad, Courtney, David, Dustin, Garrett, Jamie, Jasmine, Krista, Macky, Melissa, Michael, Sam, Tiffany, Victoria and Virginia; and nine great-grandchildren. George was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Erwin and Glenden; and two sisters, Leabell Eames and Evelyn Peabody.

My Dad was a special person, he was there for me through the good times and the rough times, always there with a shoulder to cry on when I needed it. He was selfless, a man with litte words but he was there for hugs and love. I will greatly miss my Dad for now he is as they say in a better place. I only wish I had had the chance to say goodbye but I know in my heart that he knew how much he was loved. I love you and will miss you terribly.
