Ruth Karol Obituary
VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Ruth C. Karol, 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach, Fla.
Born in Lynn, Mass., she has been a resident of Fort Pierce, Fla., for the past 15 years, and formerly of Danvers, Mass.
Prior to retirement, she and her husband were owners of a hotel, restaurant and gift shop for 20 years in North Conway, N.H. Ruth was a former draft person for GE doing aircraft instrument design and also worked for Sylvania Electric designing machinery.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Danvers, Mass., Washington Street Baptist Church, Lynn, Mass., and United Baptist Church in Saco. She enjoyed painting, dining and travels in New England and she was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Anthony Karol of Fort Pierce, Fla.; son, Dr. Jonathan Karol, D.O. and daughter-in-law Lee of Old Orchard Beach; granddaughter, Courtney and husband Todd of Gray; and two great-granddaughters, Emma and Chloe. She was predeceased by grandson, Chad Karol.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 20, at 10 a.m., at the United Baptist Church in Saco. Arrangements are under the care of Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce, Fla. Friends may visit the online guest register book at www.aycock-hillcrest.com.

Tony, Jon and Lee, Courtney and Todd, little ones. Only having known Ruth (Mom, Gram) for a few years she was the quintessential person that you have known forever. That "head - tilted, sideways glance" with the added gleam in her eye, told you she was always one step ahead of you, and quite sure she knew what you were thinking. So very proud of her family, always excited and anxious to share her pictures. Quite a lady, take care of her guy. Blessed to know them both, and their family.

Jon, Lee, Courtney, and extended families,
I was saddened to read of the passing of your mom in the paper today. Not having met her myself, it is my fondness for you three that generates the emotion, and having lost my own Mom 4 years ago, I know what you are going through. Next time I see you, Jon, I'll tell you a story about two butterflies that flew overhead the afternoon of my Dad's funeral last July...gives me goosebumps just now, thinking of it. All positive thoughts and prayers are on the way from here to there.
