Harradon, 87
PORTLAND -- Gertrude L. Harradon, 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her five children at the time of her death.
Born on July 8, 1923, in Portland, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Letieq) Weeks. She graduated from Deering High School Class of '41, and married Arthur L. Harradon; who predeceased her.
In her 87 years, she led an active life. She was a life member of Cornerstone Chapter 193 (Order of Eastern Star), the Princess Bowling League, the MAINE Club, a 'Diva' of Park Forest, and an avid gardener and knitter. In 1987, with her husband, she moved to Englewood, Fla., to enjoy retirement and the warm weather. This past year, she returned to her beloved Maine to be with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a beloved homemaker who made the best chocolate chip cookies and Apple Pie.
She is survived by her five children; her daughter, Bonnie Harradon, her son, Robert Harradon and his wife Ann, her daughter, Joyce Tobiassen and her husband Randy, her daughter, Ann Johnston, and her son, David Harradon; her sister, Frances Thurston Young, her brother, Robert Weeks; six grandchildren, Jennifer Uhlir and her husband Niklous, Jaci Ritter and her husband Brad, Jill Rivas and her husband Robert, Lauren Johnston, Margaret Johnston, Hannah Johnston; and six great- grandchildren, Nikolas Unlir Jr., Savanna Marlowe, James Ritter, and Shannon, and Amanda and Madison Rivas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday, May 13, 2011, from 4-7 p.m., at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Woodfords Congregational Church, Meloon Chapel, 202 Woodford St., Portland. She was a lovely lady. She was so good to me. I would do little projects for her and the she would ask to me to sit and talk over a cup of coffee. At times she would also take me out to eat for dinner or. Sometimes lunch.
I enjoyed knowing her for the short time we had together. Miss you Trudy.

We are so sorry for your loss. Trudy was a very special lady. I did her hair for 35 years from Maine to Florida and will miss all our talks together about family. She loved all of you so much.

My condolences to thr Harradon family. I was sorry to see that Trudy had passed on in this morning's Sun Herald. We were mutual friends and were neighbors on Casa Grande Ave and also through the Elks Lodge here in Englewood. Arthur and I used to have some great discussions on politics etc. We will miss seeing Trudy at the Lodge functions.
