Russell T. 'Terry' Gaudet, 73
DAYTONA, Fla. -- Russell T. 'Terry' Gaudet, 73, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Carlton Shores Health and Rehabilitation, in Daytona, Fla., following a brief illness.
He was born on Sept. 10, 1937, in Rumford, to the late Terrance and Henrietta Gaudet. He attended South Portland Schools.
Terry served in the U.S. Navy. Upon returning to Portland, Terry married his first wife, with whom they had four children. After an annulment, Terry united in marriage to the late Pauline Goudey Gaudet, with whom they raised her four children in Portland. After the death of his wife Pauline, Terry united in marriage to his wife, Rita Berry-Gaudet.
Terry had many talents and loved the outdoors. In his early years, Terry worked doing vinyl siding and construction. He later developed an undying love for driving tractor trailer over the road. For the past 17 years, up until the time of his death, he drove for R.C. Moore Trucking, Scarborough. He previously worked for Bancroft Martin, Cianbro Corporation Construction, Hutchins Trucking, Prowler Trucking, and Lily Trucking.
Terry was a member of St. Joseph's Church of Portland. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and served as club president. He was a member of The American Legion of South Portland.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Rita of Port Orange, Fla. and Portland; his son, Gregory Goudey and his wife JoAnn of Freeport, his daughter, Deanna Rogers and her husband Byron of Raymond, his daughter, Francine Goudey and her husband Roger Jones of Portland; his daughter-in-law, Nanci Goudey of Scarborough; four brothers, Gary and his wife Eve, Keith and his wife Nancy, John and his wife Betty, all of Westbrook, David and his wife Romona of South Portland; and eight grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Megan, Nathan, Michael, Douglas, Amanda and Stephen. He is also survived by nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; and son, Steven Goudey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, from 5-8 p.m., at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. Prayers will be recited at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church, 673 Stevens Ave., Portland.
