Ken was my pastor in Dryden, NY and baptized my older son, Tristan--preceding the ceremony with one of his characteristic discourses on the origin of the baby's name (an unusual choice at that time) and the history of the Arthurian character who held it. Such delightful importations of learning and curiosity about all things into his services is one of my most vivid memories of Ken (he is certainly the only pastor with whom I ever discussed Plato). I miss him for his compassion, kindness, and outspoken support of controversial issues when that was needed, but also for this ability of his to treasure so wide a span of experiences and interests.

Mr. Read was always there, fire place always going giving the street a wonderful familiar smell each time we visited...We enjoyed cooking meals now and then and sharing them with Mr. Read, he was always smiling. I have a wonderful picture, from a recent Fall walk, he will be missed. Susan Reid Simon (a Phillips Granddaughter)

To the family of Ken Read, I send my sincere condolences. I dearly remember his compassionate pastoral care in Dryden and his presiding over the marriage of my daughter Anina. I am pleased that he had a long and fruitful life. God bless you all.

It is difficult to accept the loss of a man whose life was such an outstanding example of authenticity and unconditional love ~ not to mention a wicked sense of humor! You were anxious to return home to Edith, your "Alice Blue Gown." You will be missed, but those of us who crossed your path are so much better for having known you!
