Judith Carter Obituary

Judith (Eldridge) Carter, 75
CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Judith (Eldridge) Carter, 75, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, Mass., and Kennebunkport, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011. She was the wife of the late Carleton L. Carter who died in 2004.
She was born in Melrose, Mass., on July 17, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Beatrice (Clark) Eldridge. Judith was a graduate of South Portland High School, and Westbrook College in Portland.
Judith began her career with the Town of Chelmsford, as a reporter for the News Weekly. For the next seven years she held various positions in Town Hall, and later retired after serving 23 years as an administrative assistant for the Chelmsford Board of Selectmen.
Judith is survived by her three children, Stephen E. Carter and his wife Susan of Maynard, Mass., Susan E. Carter of Chelmsford, Mass., and David W. Carter and his wife Marni of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Joseph, David, Jared and Erin Carter; her sister, Sally W. Kennedy of Kennebunkport; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m., at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford, Mass. Her funeral service will take place on Wednesday, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Graveside prayers and interment will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 11 a.m., in the Highland Cemetery, Highland Avenue, Dayton. Funeral Directors Paul A. Hardy Jr. and Richard P. Burkinshaw.
