Muriel Cleaves Obituary

Muriel Ann 'Mickey' Cleaves
Albright's Accounting, Yarmouth, Accountant,
Caregiver & Friend
YARMOUTH -- Muriel Ann 'MICKEY' left us to begin her journey into eternity late afternoon Sunday, April 17, 2011, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Bath on Dec. 8, 1933, to Percy and Marguerite (Place) Ayer. She attended local schools and graduated from North Yarmouth Academy in 1952.
Mickey became a CPA and partner in business with her longtime friend and mentor, Mrs. Charlotte Albright, in Albright's Accounting, Yarmouth. Mrs. Albright was stricken with polio as a child and was bound to a wheelchair. After her husband Cecile's passing, Mickey gave of herself unselfishly and loyally and cared for Mrs. Albright for over 30 years, until her death in 1998. It was a time she was grateful for and felt very blessed by.
Mickey was an avid coin collector, reader, passionate patriot, and traveler but spent most of her time giving of herself and her time, knowledge and resources anonymously to others.
There were many treasured times spent at the cottages in Small Point. There were beautiful memories of time spent with family, friends and loved ones. The Bartlett Circle Group. She talked often of these times and the time she spent with those that she loved. They were what she treasured most.
Many of Mickey's business relationships and clients regarded her as much more than just the woman that they did business with or did their taxes; they looked to her for guidance, strength, faith, advice and love. She always had a joke to bring joy into your day.
Mickey was a dedicated active member of her church, The First Baptist Church in Yarmouth. She was a leader among women and extremely strong in her faith. Her faith brought her numerous people whom she saw and loved as family. This incredible faith brought her amazing peace and acceptance of all people and all things in her final time.
Mickey is survived by her beloved cat, Charlotte; her brother, Raymond H. Ayer and his wife Dot of Etna several nieces, nephews, cousins, longtime friends, Herbie Brewer and his son Daniel; Sandra Hodgdon; Janet Reynolds and much extended family. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Percy Robert Ayer (1990); and friend, Charlotte Albright (1998).
Mickey's final time with us was blessed with wonderful care by caregivers Brenda and Missy Fitts, Herbie's partner Kristina and many other friends. Her gratitude was abundant, faith amazing and love overwhelming.
At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, 346 Main St., Yarmouth, with the Rev. Ric Ochsner officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery and then a light reception after. Please visit www.lindquistfuneralhome.com to share your condolences, memories and tributes with Mickey's family and friends.

We will surely miss our neighbor with the big heart and knowing smile. Mickey kept an eye on the goings on in the neighborhood and that was a comfort to us. I enjoyed listening to Mickey's tales of what went on in the neighborhood over the years and all of the history. Mickey saw a lot in her time on earth. We will never forget our neighbor who went about her business quietly and took care of so many with little fanfare. Many thanks to Herbie, Kristina and Daniel for taking such good care of Mickey. Getting her home to be with her beloved Charlotte was her final wish and they made it happen. I hope that everyone reading this does something nice for someone and thinks of Mickey! Rest in Peace old girl!

Thanks Mickey for peppering my life with lots of laughs and lots of love--and advice. Thank you for your prayers too. I wish I could email you and Dee up in heaven to see how you guys are getting on, but then I remembered--you didn't like email and didn't have a computer down here so you probably don't have time for them up there either . I will miss you so very much. Jo Garner, Germantown, TN (formerly of Maine)
