She was born Dorothy Marie Olson in Caribou on Jan. 3, 1923, the daughter of C. Oscar Olson and Vesta Sheppard Olson. She attended Caribou schools and was a 1940 graduate of Caribou High School. She graduated from Aroostook State Normal School in 1943 and received her B. A. from Gorham State Teachers College in 1965.

She was a member of Buxton United Methodist Church and Women's Group, Grandiflora Garden Club of Standish, and Standish Senior Citizens.
Due to health problems she gradually had to give up the activities she so enjoyed.

I was lucky enough to be in Mrs. Clifford's fifth grade class many years ago. She and her daughter Glenna influenced my life so much that I have followed in their footsteps and have been a teacher for 26 years . I know that she is in a better place with our Heavenly Father.

To Glenna, Loren, and Family - We are so sad to hear of Maries'passing. There are many fond memories of she and your Dad stopping by the house Saturday nights to play cards with the Towles and Brooks. She was very respected by all who knew her. Glenna, you were an excellent caregiver. It is not easy, but well worth it in the end, as you know.
