Kaleb Clowes Obituary

Kaleb Scott Clowes, 18
GORHAM -- Kaleb Scott Clowes, 18, and a senior at Gorham High School, died unexpectedly
at home on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, much to the sadness of his family; but we take comfort in knowing he is in his heavenly father's presence now and at peace.
Kaleb was a man of few words but with a great love for the written word, especially great science fiction and fantasy. He enjoyed writing enthusiastic and insightful reviews of the books he read and sharing them on facebook, where he went by 'Kaleb Captain Marvelous Clowes.'
He also enjoyed hanging out in front of the computer, spending time listening to the music he loved, participating in role- playing games, and sketching on paper and on the computer.
Kaleb was shy with others but loved his family and his three dogs and four cats; he had some close friendships at school and was close to his cousins. Those who knew him well appreciated his quick sense of humor and imagination.
He was a beloved son, big brother, grandson, and cousin in the midst of a close-knit extended family.
He was born in Portland on July 30, and grew up attending Gorham schools.
He is survived by his mom and dad, Jenni Harriman Clowes and Peter Clowes; his younger brother and sister, Jacob and Kaitlyn; his grandmother, Joan Harriman; his uncles and aunts, Peter and Beth Harriman, Paul and Kelly Harriman, and Mark Harriman, all of Gorham, and Tom and Jeannie Clowes of New Sweden, Craig and Pam Clowes of Caribou, and Suzanne Clowes of Newton, Mass.; and cousins, Christopher Harriman, Ryan Harriman, Josh Harriman, Nate Harriman, Jessica Harriman and Rachel Harriman.
Friends and family are invited to attend a service in celebration of Kaleb's life on Saturday, May 14, at 1 p.m., at South Gorham Baptist Church, 53 County Rd., Gorham. Arrangements are by the Dolby and Dorr Funeral Chapel, Gorham. For online condolences, please visit our web site at www.dolbyfuneralchapels.com.

Peter and Jen,

Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Being parents is such an honor and this is why it hurts us so when they pass. Kaleb was a loved young man and we certainly hope that the next few days will be about celebrating his life and wonderful happenings.

Take great comfort that you have family and friends that support you during these tough times.

As you celebrate Kaleb's life, I will hold you all in my heart. Remembering the times you laughed with him or the funny things he did when he was little, helps soothe the pain. You are very unselfish to have money donated to a teen center to help other teens I did not know you all, but I bet he got his unselfishness from ya all. Jen and I looked for an organization that helps teens who need a little help and I would encourage in lieu of flowers you could consider a contribution to the Mission Possible Teen Center in Westbrook Maine.
Thanks, Peter Clowes

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
