LANCASTER, N.H. -- Barbara Y. Cutting, 91, died on Monday morning, May 9, 2011, at the Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center.
Mrs. Cutting was born in Wolfeboro, N.H., on June 23, 1919, the daughter of Carl L. and Beatrice (Kimball) Young.
Barbara was raised in Wolfeboro and graduated from Brewster Academy. After attending business college she worked for a time and later married her late husband, Earl L. Cutting of Warner, N.H. They resided throughout New England but were longtime residents of Portland.
She was a talented pianist and organist and has performed for the Order of the Easter Star and in various churches. Late in life she became an avid Red Sox fan.
Church memberships include the Central Square Baptist Church, Portland, and the Congregational United Church of Christ, Lancaster, N.H. She was past worthy matron of the Deering Chapter #59, OES.
Family members include a son, C. Wayne Cutting and wife Sydnie M. Smith of Kennebunk, a daughter, Linda C. Hutchins and husband Dave of Lancaster, N.H.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Earl predeceased her in May of 2010.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday evening, May 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster, N.H. A funeral service will be held on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ. A graveside committal service will follow at 4 p.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, Warner, N.H. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster, N.H.
