1929 - 2011
HAMPDEN, Mass. -- Bernard G. Berenson, 81, of Hampden, Mass., died at his home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, June 6, 2011.
He was the second of three sons, and grew up in Portland. As a child he delivered newspapers on the docks. He was intensely dedicated to his family and friends. He treasured his close relationships with his brothers, Simon and David, and was proud of his immigrant family heritage.
He loved to spend summers in Maine. He was an involved, loving and encouraging father to his children, and he adored and respected his wife, the love of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his children, Julie and Joel; and his grandchildren, Katherine, Jessica, Victoria and Nicholas.
The funeral was held on June 10 at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. The Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dr. Berenson had a profound impact on my life. He was a superior teacher and counselor who taught me the value of believing in myself. His intellect was only superceded by his kindness. I thought of him today and decided to google his name . I am saddened by his loss. May God comfort you and keep you.
