Carolyn Usher Goff

Carolyn will join Harland in the Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery, Harlan passed away on Feb. 15, 2011. Carolyn and her sister Shirley grew up on a small farm in Hollis. The gravesite is located only a stones throw from that house, and in the cemetery where her father was caretaker for many years.

I believe that Carolyn Goff was a second Mother to our two daughters. Every summer they could hardly wait to see if the Goffs were at camp. They certainly "shelled" a lot of peas together and snapped a lot of beans. Many thanks Carolyn and Harlon for being our "special"friends.

Mrs. Goff was a wonderful warm person. She and Mr. Goff were like family to my sister and me. We had the pleasure of spending our summers growing up next door to their summer camp. We would bug Mom every Friday repeatedly asking when are the Goff''s going to get here? As we got older , we stopped spending time at our camp, but Mrs. Goff never missed sending us a holiday or birthday card. Mrs. Goff taught us all about nature and patience. Mr. & Mrs Goff also taught me how to live a peaceful life. They built a little log cabin on the lake and I was always amazed at how they could find time to take a nap on the deck in the afternoons. I couldn't wait to show them pictures of the log cabin on the lake my husbad and I built. I think of both of them now when I take a quick nap in my chair by the lake. They were the couple that gracefully grew old together. Both the Goff's had such a positive influence on my life and will be missed very much. I will remember them and imagine they are just napping on the deck together. Until we meet again,
