Cynthia Doughty Obituary

Cynthia (Joan) Doughty, 77
FALMOUTH -- Cynthia (Joan) Doughty, 77, longtime resident of Falmouth, passed away on June 14, 2011, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born in Portland, the daughter of Clinton and Leah (Hall) Curry.
On April 27, 1950, she married Albert J. Doughty and they began raising a family.
Joan worked at Devonshire Manor in Portland for many years. She loved to watch the Red Sox, Nascar, crossword puzzles, family gatherings, parades and taking long rides with her husband. She especially enjoyed many nights at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway watching her son and grandsons race.
She was predeceased by her husband, Albert J. Doughty Sr.; a daughter, Patrice A. Bubar; and sisters, Martha Shepard and Janet Brown. She is survived by a daughter, Leah Pyy and her husband Bryan of Bath, and a son, Albert J. Doughty Jr. and his wife Bonnie of Gorham. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Independent Death Care, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland, where a funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Windham. Arrangements are by Independent Death Care, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland.
