To all the family. Cynthia and I met when we were students at the Radcliffe Landscape Institute, After we graduated we had a practice in Carlisle and the surrounding towns. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed designing and installing many landscapes. It was a fun and busy time and we used our children to help us.

I met Cynthia the one time, at a Vespers ceremony at her church with her husband last summer. Marden had spoken highly of her, and I was unaware that she was ill. She had a lightness of spirit, and way that she wore a lovely scarf in her silvering hair, and raised her voice with the familiar hymns made her seem more youthful. My contact with her was brief, but I felt like I met someone who was kind, lovely, bright, and dignified.

My heart goes out to her family, with great sadness for her loss from this world, but also with relief that she has been released from a disease that was so cruel to her. I wish them love and strength, and also some comfort in knowing that they helped care for her in the most difficult time in her life. Peace be with you.

I am so sorry to hear about Cynthia's death, Marden, but I realize that her quick and peaceful end, as you put it, have released her from the misery of her illness and all of the family from the anguish of knowing her suffering. May memories of her in happier times provide healing and peace for all of you, as well. Penny Morris (Denmark, ME)

My beautiful and creative wife, Cynthia, suffered from Alzheimer's dementia for the last three years but she did not linger on and "went home" relatively quickly and peacefully. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
