Elisa DiBiase Obituary

Elisa Marie DiBiase, 11
PORTLAND -- Elisa Marie DiBiase was a special beautiful girl. At 11 years old she was asked by God to take his hand on May 29, 2011. As the oldest daughter of Michael and Melissa DiBiase, Elisa taught everyone she met just how special life is. She gave her family the gift of love as she fought every day to be here. Elisa also gave them the opportunity to learn to enjoy life's simple pleasures.
Elisa accomplished the 5th grade in the Life Skills Class at Riverton Elementary School. She loved to go for walks, watch the wind blow and family camping trips. She also enjoyed babies, books, songs and school. You could see her joy when she was around people; she was truly a social butterfly. One of the little pleasures Elisa enjoyed was to watch her little sister, Gianna play. Her favorite pals were Dora the Explorer, those who joined Blue in finding Blues Clues, and anyone living on Sesame Street. Elisa showed her love for people and things with a twinkle in her eye and her beautiful smile. Her eyes told a story and her giggles were her voice. You didn't need to hear her say 'I love you.' One look into her eyes, and you just knew.
Surviving are her parents, Michael and Melissa DiBiase; little sister, Gianna; mimi and papa, Michaelene and Dennis DiDonato, grammy, Melinda Dorazio; aunties, Taresa DiDonato and Doreen DiBiase; uncles, Patrick Dorazio and James Dorazio; cousins, Lincoln and Joey; great-grandmother, Joyce Slater; and many many great- aunts, uncles and cousins. Elisa was predeceased by her grandfather, Dominic Dorazio; great-uncle, Vincent Dorazio; and great-grandparents, Dominic Sr. and Nicoletta Dorazio, Adelbert Slater and Jeannette and Harry Dinsmore.

Elisa's family extends their appreciation to the staff at Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, PICU, and all of the Riverton School Staff and Elisa's Life Skills classmates. They also recognize the care, compassion and expertise of Dr. Erik Gunno and staff, Dr. 'Maggie' Zamboni and UHC for Kids and Dr. Alan Morris and staff at Pediatric Specialty Care Group. There were so many people working together to help Elisa live each day to her fullest potential. Nurse Nancy Hewitt, Elisa's visiting nurse for 11 years, was there from the beginning to the end. There are no words to express the love the family has for Nancy as she went far above and beyond all expectations. Nancy will forever be a part of their family. 'Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!'

Dear Michael, Melissa, Gianna, Melinda, Rita & Anna -- My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you during this painful period of saying goodbye to such a beautiful, precious little soul. The first and only time I met Elisa, I was profoundly moved by her innocence and a beautiful sense of joy within her. It is very obvious that this saintly child was beloved by her whole family. I know that the pain in your hearts will not go away for a long time, and hope & pray that the comfort, love and promise of our Heavenly Father will help to ease that pain as you visualize your baby girl being held in the loving, maternal arms of our Holy Blessed Mother Mary as our Lord Jesus holds her hands in His hands and welcomes her into the Beautific Vision of the Holy Face of God...
