Elizabeth Clark Obituary

Elizabeth Marie
Evans Clark, 85
NEW GLOUCESTER -- Elizabeth Marie Evans Clark, 85, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2011, at the Hospice House in Auburn surrounded by her loving family.
Born on Jan. 29, 1926, in Biddeford, she was the daughter of Roy and Blanche (Leonardi) Evans of Kennebunk where she grew up. She graduated with honors from Kennebunk High School, and attended Boston University and the University of Maine at Farmington, after which she graduated with a degree in education and taught in the Bangor school system.
Betty and Richard Clark met in the eighth grade and were married for 63 years.
She leaves behind her beloved family; her devoted husband, Rich, a retired orchardist in New Gloucester; her two children, Cynthia (Cindy) Bois of New Gloucester and David Clark of New Gloucester; two adored granddaughters, Marisa Bois of Portland and Hannah Clark of New Gloucester; a sister, Barbara Evans Yates and her husband Russell of Kennebunk; and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of her family. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Annie Bierweiler of Wolfeboro, N.H.; and her children and grandchildren.
Betty touched the lives of many people with her caring humor and keen wit, sharing her strength of spirit as her legacy to her cherished family. Her joys in life were her family, her friends and going out to lunch. When the children were small, she'd drive them around in her little yellow Volkswagen to visit friends and relatives. Since 1963, Betty lived with Rich at their family farm, Royal River Orchards, in New Gloucester. For many years, her favorite luncheon spot was Cole Farms in Gray where she maintained numerous friendships with the staff.
Betty's family is planning a private celebration of her life.
