Miniszek, 93
TOPSHAM -- Laura Sims Miniszek, 93, a long time resident of Brattleboro, Vt., died at Cadigan Lodge, The Highlands in Topsham on Sunday, May 15, 2011.
Mrs. Miniszek was born in Concord, N.H., on July 1, 1917, the daughter of Burt and Alena Stevens Sims, younger sister of Alberta.
She was a 1940 graduate of the University of New Hampshire and member of Mu Alpha Chapter of Chi Omega. During WWII, Laura served as a Plane Spotter in Palm Springs, Calif.
She married the love of her life, Dr. James Haight Miniszek, on June 1, 1942. Dr. Miniszek predeceased her in March 1991.
Mrs. Miniszek was a deaconess of Center Congregational Church, Brattleboro, Vt. She was also a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader and member of the board of Family and Child Guidance.
Mrs. Miniszek was also Honorary Director of the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Gift Shop Chairman. In addition, she was also a member of the board of the Holton Memorial Home.
Mrs. Miniszek leaves four daughters, Jane M. Weigarten of Denver, Colo., Sally M. Babcock of South Freeport and Falls Church, Va., Ann M. Jule of Rye, N.H., and Nancy A. Cooper of Danbury, N.H.; and five grandchildren, Josiah H. Babcock, Samuel S. Babcock, Jed B. Weingarten, James A. Weingarten and Alena A. Jule.
There will be a private family service. Arrangements are in care of Brackett Funeral Home, Brunswick.

Jane,Sally, Ann and Nancy, So sad to read of your mother's passing. Many of my childhood memories are outings with your whole family, such fun. She will be missed as do Lynne and I miss our mom.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I know it is a big loss for you. An added blessing in living with Aunt Amy was to get to know your parents and you, Jane , Sally , Ann and Nancy, and your families.
