Mark Dobrovolny Obituary

Mark Dobrovolny Sr.
Oct. 30, 1931 - May 31, 2011
SCARBOROUGH -- Mark Dobrovolny Sr., 79, a resident of Scarborough, died on May, 30, 2011.
He was born on Oct. 30, 1931, in Uzhorod, Czechoslovakia, and as a young man, Mark was a dedicated hockey player and represented the Czechoslovak National Hockey Team.
Mark came to the USA in the summer of 1970, with his wife Helen and sons Mark and Tomas, seeking freedom and a better life for himself and family, especially his young children taking a great deal of courage and sacrifice to escape the oppressive communist regime after the Soviet Union occupied Czechoslovakia post the 1968 'spring invasion.'
He came to this country with faith, two suitcases, his wife and young family, leaving everything behind which was later confiscated by his former Government.
Mark found his freedom, built his home and settled in New Jersey where he lived with his wife for over 35 years. They moved to Scarborough in 2008 to be close to their family and after the progression of Parkinson's disease required same.
May he rest in peace and may God and his angels look over him.
He will be missed by his wife, Helen; his sons; grandchildren, Brett and Jason; his daughters- in-law, Susan and Jane; and sister, Ada Vanova.
There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Scarborough. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. Arrangements made by the Hobbs Funeral Home, 671 U.S. Rte. One, Scarborough.

Dear beloved brother, you were very precious person to me; kind, sensible, who loved his family and with courage ensured a better future for them. You and your wife Ilonka raised your sons into wonderful young men. I will miss you hugely, I will never forget. I regret that due to my age I cannot travel to say goodbye to my beloved brother for the last time. Tribute to your commemoration.
And to you Ilonka, I would like to thank for your thorough care, for days and nights, which you shared with Mirek. I would like to express my deepest thanks and sympathy.

Dear Mirek,

we will all miss you night and day,
forever, since the 30th of May.
Till end of our days, for you, we will pray.

May your path be spread with scented roses,
Leading you to heaven, gate of earthbound life closes.

May hollow angels guide your way¸
Now, never-ending will be your day.
We all wish you didn´t leave and could stay.

Rest in peace and feel safe in god´s embrace,
We will all miss your sense of humour and grace.

Dear Ilonka and the whole family,
There is a big sorrow in our hearts, because Mirek passed away. He will be still in our memories, we will remember on what we have experienced together, how laughed and enjoyed nice times. We can imagine how difficult time you must be going through at the moment. But believe, it will all help us to overcome this difficult time when we realize, that Mirek passed away to eternity physically, and his soul, love and kindness will be here with us all forever. God bless you. And believe that even though we cannot be together with you due to a long distance, in our thoughts, we are with you all the time. On Saturday, we will be in church as we organized a service, so we will be even closer to you in this sorrow time.

Milá Ilonko a celá rodino,

Ráda bych Ti vyjádrila svuj vdek a uprímnou soustrast.
