Charlotte Maria Anderson

Dr. Charlotte Marie Anderson PHD died on October 9, 2013 age 90 at Waverly Heights formerly of Wayne and California Beloved wife of the late Carl E for 38 years who died in 1995. They were married in 1957 She was born in Vienna, Austria July 7, 1923. She moved to Hollywood, California, where her Father was a opera specialist for MGM studios. She graduated from Beverly Hills High School in California in 1939. She received a B.A. from UCLA in French Literature in 1943 and an M.A. from UCLA in German Literature in 1950. She received her Ph.D from Yale University in German Literature. .She taught at Connecticut College for Women from 1956-1960, Haverford College from 1961-1966. She was the Department chair of foreign languages for Montgomery County Community College from 1966-1993. She spoke many languages including German , French, Spanish. Italian and Swedish. During her career she collaborated on 2 textbooks for teaching beginning and advanced German culture. She served as reviewer for articles on both educational and literary subjects for various literary journals for literary journals for German language. She published numerous articles in German literary journals. Dr. Anderson presented numerous literary research papers in language associations such major cities as New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Minneapolis and Montreal. She served as the president of foreign language associations at the American Association of Foreign Languages and the Northeast Association of Modern Language and, also as a reviewer for a series of English translations of German literary masterpieces.
