Dear Karen, Dorothy and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. It is difficult to believe that Steve is gone. He had such a strong presence and energy, one that has touched so many people and will continue to do so. He will always be in our hearts. He was truly a renaissance man as John had said. He never ceased to amaze me with his many talents and gift for taking on any project. His generous nature of lending a helping hand was experienced by many. I will always be grateful for the 36 years I knew Steve. May all the wonderful memories and love you shared help ease your sorrow.

Please accept my condolences. I am deeply sorry to hear of Stephens' passing.
I have known Stephen for more than 30 years. I can still remember meeting him, his enthusiasm and the way his smile always shown through his eyes. Stephen was very charming and you always felt special in his presence. Stephen was a great friend; I loved him and will miss him.

I did not have a chance to meet Steve last time I was in Calif. I feel like I had already met him from talking with Karen about Steve. Karen you were so good for Steve and so strong during his sickness. I hope that you can let all who loved you and Steve, take care of you in this time of loss. Steve was friend and co-worker. It was a pleasure working with him. When things got tense, Steve would always throw in a little humor to calm the situation.

Dear Karen and the Odetto family;
I knew Steve briefly having worked with him at Gloria Ferrer. It was the easiest interview ever and I wanted to hire him after the first 5 minutes. His spirit, drive, dedication, and consistent/upbeat demeanor were inspiring and a great joy to be around. He left a positive and lasting impression on customers and his co-workers alike. He will not be forgotten.

Dear Karen and Odetto family:
Nancy and I will miss the spot light in our window on a lazy evening when Steve was on duty making sure we were safe. As for intoxicating Steve was just that and will be in our memories FOREVER having introduced us to one another on a lazy day 16 years ago. Steve reminded me often that when folks and friends sighted us together thinking we were brothers that as for looks he was the filet mignon and I was just ground chuck. Steve was in fact the " filet mignon" and a man that we were proud to have in our life.

My sincerest condolences to you for the passing of your beloved Steve. What a wonderful, beautiful soul whose memory will be with me always. Meeting him literally sent me on my career path and if not for him, I would probably not be in Law Enforcement today. He was charming, charismatic and always smiling. I was blessed to call Steve a friend and colleague for 29 years. We worked together and stayed close as the years went by. My deepest symphathies to all of you during this very sad time. Steve touched so many of our lives with his amazing wit and thirst for knowledge. He maintained a positive attitude and unwavering courage despite the many setbacks. I first met Steve back in the early 70's. We were both rookies launching our police careers.
Steve was a great officer and most of all a good friend. My memories of him will live on. He will be missed.

Karen- Our hearts are filled with sadness at the loss of your husband, Steve. We cannot imagine the pain you feel right now. What a wonderful man he seemed to have been! The loving support you gave him, over the past 8-1/2 years, was an unselfish expression of the love you felt for him. We want you to know that we are so proud of you. You took such unselfish, dedicated, loving care of our wonderful son-in-law, Steve, for so long.
