Thank You John for being a Friend, and how could I ever forget the times you saved the day by doing all the valve jobs on my 1960 Corvair while we were at Nuke School, and the fun in Saratoga as roomates and the winter storm of 64-65 that iced us in. Thank you for overlooking all my faults, and finding the spot in my heart where you shall forever remain. To Diane and all his Family, I share deeply your pain at our loss. May John be blessed with God's ultimate reward and wait for us all to join him once more in Heaven. Amen, Nick Gordon EMCM(SS) USN Ret.

John was a friend and part of our family at Analysts. He often talked about his family, his dog, his Harley and camping. John - I know Bodega is waiting to be with you. You will be missed. Diane and family, it was with great sorrow I heard of the loss of John. I hope all the good times with John will help ease his loss.

John was a very special part of our lives. Eric and I enjoyed the time we got spend with him at the Oakland office. He had a large impact on us both at work and at play. We will always remember the baseball games and skipping out early to play a round of golf in Alameda.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time. John will be missed.

Diane, Matt, John & Jodi, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. John was such a great person always made me smile. When I visited, he was a great tour guide and he loved every minute of it! He was so proud of San Francisco and of his family. I know you will miss him dearly, but remember he is at peace. He is with you in spirit every minute of every day. The world was a better place because of him. Love to all of you, Bonnie, Carmen, Carmen Jr. & Amara.

Dear Diane and family, John was very special to me and my sister as we were growing up in San Francisco. We went through Giannini Jr. High with John as well as Lincoln High School. We spent many a lunch hour sitting on the big cement "stairs" sharing food (the guys were always hungry) and getting into a little mischief. I was happy to hear that John followed his dream of going into the navy and that he made such a success of his life. His long marriage and wonderful family also speaks well of him. To John's family,
My twin sister Marian and I attended the 50th reunion with the hope that we would once again see Terry Hancock and John Allen. They, and Dana Davenport and Pat Ellerback, were part of our "crowd" that hung out together every lunch hour at Lincoln. Sadly, at the reunion we heard that Terry had died at 58 years old. We wondered about John, and I was shocked and saddened to see in the paper this morning that he had also passed away.
Two memories that stand out in my mind are the time we were all sent to the dean--Marian, Dana, Pat and I to the girl's dean and John and Terry to the boy's--where we were separately questioned about gambling on school property. We had been playing hopscotch using coins as markers. Apparently we all told the same story, because we were released from custody with a warning not to play childish games. We really weren't gambling, because we hadn't finished a game where the winner would have won all the money on the court. My other memory is the time John brought his motorcycle to our house and took us for rides. This was very risky behavior, because our parents would have killed us had they found out.
We would have liked to reminise with John, but I want you to know that Marian and I have thought of him many times in those fifty years since graduation.

To the family of John Allen,
I was one of the committee members who planned the Lincoln High School 50th year reunion, held on Saturday, Oct. 23rd. We are all so sorry to hear of John's passing. I do remember him from school, and I just read his entry in our class yearbook. He said he majored in math and science and that mechanical drawing was his favorite subject...so it's obvious he had a fine, analytical mind. Please accept my deepest condolances on behalf of our whole class. To date, our small SF class of 228 has lost 22 students. Please know our hearts are with you.
