KATHLEEN FOLEY Obituary

Kathleen A. Foley 1/23/1946-1/1/2011 At 64, Kathy left us far too early, after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Her tight-knit family included Dennis, her beloved husband of 28 years, daughter Lise Hamilton-Tsao (Anthony), son Evan Hamilton (Karen), stepson Sean Foley and six adored grandchildren-Alexandra Mahvi, Jennifer Hamilton, Jonathan and Christa Tsao, Jack and Miles Hamilton. Born and raised in Bryan, Ohio, Kathy was a Marin County resident for the past 33 years. During that time she operated Foley Contract Interiors, designing and furnishing offices and commercial spaces for a number of Bay Area companies, including her main client, Westamerica Bank. But the overwhelming concern of her life in recent years has been the care of her husband Dennis, who was left quadriplegic in a 1995 accident. Kathy was a gourmet cook and gracious hostess, a voracious reader, a lively conversationalist, a loyal friend, an accomplished pianist, but most of all, a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 15th, 2011 at Keaton's Redwood Chapel of Marin, 1801 Novato Boulevard, Novato, followed by an open-house reception at the Foley's home, 704 McClay Road, Novato. The family wishes to thank Hospice of the Bay Area for easing Kathy's final days, and welcomes donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org) to help find advances that will lessen the suffering of others.

Although it's difficult now to see beyond the sorrow, when we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still. What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that our loved one died, but that they lived ! Kathy's life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared, comfort you all now and in the days ahead.

With our love & prayers

Kath, dear friend, you are and always will be missed. I loved our laughs, talks, jaunts, book-sharing, meals and especially friendship. Uniquely one of a kind with your huge heart, your non judgmental way of always seeing the funny side, your generous way of welcoming all who crossed your threshold, I was blessed to have you in my life. Thank you for the time we shared.
To Dennis, Lise, Evan and Shawn, Alexandra, Jenny, Jon and Krista, Karen, Jack and Miles I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you find some comfort in the following poem.
With love and in friendship,
Loretta (and Stanley)

Ascension

And if I go,
while you're still here...
Know that I live on,
vibrating to a different measure
--behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
so you must have faith.
I wait for the time when we can soar together again,
--both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to its fullest.
And when you need me,
Just whisper my name in your heart,
...I will be there.

My first Christmas in Novato, the prom, Kahlua the kitten, the time she took me to the hospital, the reason I passed my drivers test, high school graduation, lunch at the Lark Creek Inn. There so many reasons to remember Kathy. She will be missed but not forgotten. My deepest sympathy to those she loved and leaves behind. "You were just too darn young!" "It's not fair!".... Kitchen Kathy… curious Kathy… care-giving Kathy…. The absence of Kathy's nurturing heart leaves a vacuum for those who knew and loved her. May we fill this emptiness with memories of her generous, quirky nature––and mirror her kindness.

Words cannot express the sadness we now feel. The emptiness will soon be replaced by all of the loving memories we have of Kathy. She always confronted the many life changes that came her way with dignity, grace, a smile and a twinkle in her eye*. We will miss her dearly. With love, Maureen and Neil

We all will miss Kathy's big heart and loving ways. She was blessed with a kind demeanor and a helping spirit. Her faithfulness to her family is unparalleled. She had a unique way of making everyone feel special and important, and always kept things light. Even as recently as 2 weeks ago she never seemed concerned about her situation, but rather wanted to discuss family interests. I trust that she is a peace with the Lord. Love, Wayne and Suellen
