When I think of Alyce I'll always remember the time that the Tall Ships came to Boston Harbor and Alyce procured a room at the Boston Harbour Hotel that looked out at the harbor and allowed her extended family to enjoy not only the parade of tall ships, but also the fantastic fireworks show that evening. What a generous person she was.

Janice McGarvey (class of 64) will always remember the "B" from the Ballard School "B" days and Alyce's pink shoes! Was just speaking of her the other day, not imagining I'd be writing in her obituary guest book.

My deepest sympathy to Alyce's family. We were classmates at St. Mary's Girls' High School in Lynn, MA. When I saw her obituary in the Boston Globe, my heart ached. She was such an intelligent, passionate, and kind person. I always knew she would be successful in whatever she chose. She made the world a better place during her teenage years when I knew her. She continued to do so throughout her life.
She will always be in my prayers.

Alyce was a great cousin. From my stay overs in her and Eileens' apt in Boston to the visits with our daughters and then with just Pat and I to her home in Kentfield we enjoyed our times together. Two years ago Alyce and my sister Dianne from Burlington Vt went to Hilton Head and had a great time. This all went too fast and she is missed deeply by her Aunt Diane and Uncle John in Boston. We will keep her in our prayers and thoughts.

I always called her "aunt" Alyce, although she was my father's cousin. From my first visit to California to see her as an awkward teen, to my last visits these past years now that I am in my thirties, she was, without a doubt, a heroine to me. Her appreciation of beauty, art, travel, and culture were amazing. She gave so many gifts during her life to me-- free rein in her library, complete use of her harvest of pears and apples in Kentfield, and beyond generous driving service through the wild and hauntingly alive fields, shores, and forests of Marin and Napa. I admired her-- she built her own niche in a challenging field over years of determination and hard work, and she set her sights very, very high. It is my gift to have known her and to share a bloodline with her-- I remember going through the photos of her grandmother, and how she told me the stories of strength that came from Italy and put down roots in America. She helped me understand the value of both inherited values and strengths, and also of individual courage that is built by sheer will. She is likely wagging a blood-red fingernail at me now, telling me to get to the point, not waste a moment, and get busy going after those dreams too long put on the back burner. She had Moxy, glamour, and class. She also had tremndous love, which she shared with so many people. God bless all of Alyce's immediate family whom she cared for deeply, and her dear friends who, along with me, will miss her so. I'll try to tackle French cuisine in her honor, and I know she'll understand if it takes me a lifetime to get it just right.
