JACQUELINE MOORE Obituary

Jacqueline Packard Moore Jacqueline Moore, wife of the late W.R. Moore, passed away October 20, 2010 in Chandler, AZ, at the age of 96. She was born January 23, 1914 in E. Wenatchee, WA to Augustus and Esther Packard, the second of six children. She graduated from Washington State University in 1937, with honors in Botany and membership in the Phi Sigma Honor Society. From 1936 to 1939 Jackie made many trips to the Seven Devils Mts. of ID., where she did plant collections for the college and the USFS. She made more than 400 collections and was the first to find and document 18 new species of plants. Jackie and Bill married in 1939 in Swansonville, WA and started their married life on a fire lookout near Avery, ID. Bill joined the Border Patrol that year and they moved to Sanderson, TX. By 1942 they were transferred to Fort Missoula, MT as staff at a detention camp for German and Italian seamen. Between 1943 and 1950, Jackie was mostly in Spokane, WA. In Jan. 1951 they moved to Novato where Jackie lived for the next 60 years. During this time she was a very active member of the community: a Girl Scout leader for 8 years, a teacher at Olive School for 18 years, and the director of the Novato History Museum for 13 years. Jackie was a charter member of the United Novato Methodist church. She was affiliated with the Republican Women, Descendents of the Mayflower, Colonial Dames, DAR, and the Eastern Star. She is survived by sister Pamela Love of WA, daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and John Leslie of Davis Creek, CA, son and daughter-in-law Bill and Nancy Moore of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren Will and Jim Leslie and Lisa and Kristy Moore, great grandchildren Sydney, Sean, and William Leslie. Grave side services will be held at Valley Memorial Park on November 3rd at 1:00 PM, followed by a reception at the United Methodist Church in Novato. Memorial donations may be given, in Jackie's name, to your favorite charity or local school. Jackie loved Life, Nature, Friends and most of all Family She will be missed.

Jackie was a wonderful friend to our family and especialy to my mother Frances Morton. We will miss her,her love and friendship. What a blessing she was to so many.

So sorry to hear of Jackie's passing. I used to work in Dr. Kwok's office and I knew her at that time. What a spirited, determined lady. She was always very nice and we talked many times. God Bless her and her family at this very sad time
