LEE POLIZZI Obituary

Lee Polizzi Passed away peacefully on December 7, 2010 after a brief illness. She was 94 years old. Lee was born Lena Quiriconi on August 21, 1916. She grew up in the North Beach district and in 1932, won a local beauty contest. Lee married Fred Polizzi and worked side by side with him at their liquor/grocery store on 6th Street in San Francisco for many years. Every Christmas season they prepared hot lunch for hundreds of homeless residents and distributed them from their storefront. They moved to Marin County in 1963 after building their dream home in Dominican. Lee was widowed in 1985 but continued to live in her home until her illness in early November. She was deeply devoted to Padre Pio, the Italian priest that became a saint in the 60's and carried his picture with her at all times. As The Dominican neighborhood matriarch, she loved every neighborhood dog, and visits from the children and grandchildren of her friends and neighbors. Lee is survived by her brother Leo Quiriconi of San Francisco, her brother-in-law Joe Politz, her goddaughter, Jeannie Courteau and was the every- loving "Nonnie" to Jordan and Jason Zadovsky. Lee will be remembered fondly by many for her generous heart, boundless energy and sassy spirit. Services will be held on Sunday, December 12 at 2:00 pm at Keaton's in San Rafael, followed by a reception at her home. Please direct any donations in her memory to the Padre Pio Foundation, or the Marin Humane Society.

I have wonderful memories of growing up swimming in the pool. Getting my first pair of roller skates from, TaTa Lee and TaTo Fred!! Sitting at the bar as a child and playing with the slot machine. I got my love of dogs from Lee!! I will never never forget my cousin Lee's vibrant personality. She was a wonderful cousin and I will always hold my memories of her dearly.
