REGINA EDDINGTON Obituary

Regina Marie (Nina) Lopez Eddington Died suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in Mill Valley on October 8, 2010. Nina was born July 5, 1962 in New York City, New York the second of three daughters to Joan (Boehm) Lopez and A. Peter Lopez. Nina spent the first part of her life swimming in the Atlantic and playing in the sand dunes on the beaches of Long Island, NY. At the age of 13, she moved to New Milford, CT and traded in the beaches for long bicycle rides and hikes in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. Nina graduated from New Milford High School in 1980. While at NMHS, she was a member of the gymnastics team and a leader in organizing school social activities. She attended Goucher College in Towson, MD and graduated in 1984 with a degree in American Studies. After college, Nina moved to Pennsylvania. Eventually settling in Philadelphia, she became a successful marketing representative for Bristol-Meyers-Squibb and met Tom Eddington, who ultimately became her husband. Nina and Tom married in 1991, and were joined by their children Andrew in 1992 and Laney in 1994. In 1998, Nina and her family 'crossed the pond' and moved to England. During her four years in England, Nina explored the English countryside, traveled around Europe, made countless friends and was president of the American Club. Nina and her family moved to Mill Valley in 2002 and she has been a vibrant part of the Marin community ever since. Nina is survived by her son Andrew, daughter Laney, and husband Tom of Mill Valley; parents Joan and Peter Lopez of New Milford, CT, sister Julie Sakowski (Mark) of Corte Madera, Susan Rosen (Thomas) and their children Hollyn and Grant Rosen of North Caldwell, NJ, honorary sister Katherine Hartsock of Texas; Father-in-Law Bill (Adie) Eddington, Mother-in-law Janet (Dick) Eddington-Culbertson, Sisters- in-Law Sheila DeCair (Lynn) and their children Colin and Monica, Cheryl DeVola (Jerry) and their daughter Bella, Sherry Travis (Clay) and their daughter Christina, Kimberley (Gary) Jenkins and their daughter Jodi, Brothers-in-law Greg Eddington and his children Austin and Alex, Alex (Michelle) and their children Mickaela, Gabe, Noah, Jonas, and Audrey Grace, Mark (Karen) Hatley and their children Michael, Brandon, and Brian; and countless friends around the world. She loved, and was loved by, them all dearly. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of Nina's life will be held at 4:00 on Monday, October 18 at the Fernwood Cemetery in Mill Valley. Nina was a caring soul and beautiful spirit who loved nature. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito, CA or WildCare in San Rafael, CA.

I still miss you my sweet friend, everyday. Even after all these years. You were not supposed to leave so soon. What does one do when one never planned on getting older with you gone. :/ no more long conversations about life; no more giggles and laughs over our quirky plans about our lives; no more outrageous dreamed up escapades to obscure places in the world. So much left unfinished. We must meet again my dear friend, on the next round. So we can continue laughing, dreaming up mischievous escapades and giggling till the sun comes up each day. Miss you dearly my love. Always.

A tribute to Sisterhood:

Sisters are the part of us for which we will always be grateful. They know when to support us, when to console us and when to annoy us.
Yet, there is always that bond between us.

Sometimes they are just like us and other times we wonder how they could have come from the same parents.
Yet, the bond persists.

Sisters share the unique experiences of growing up together, only later we discover the differences those experiences had on us.
Yet, it only serves to strengthen the bond.

Eventually, sisters are separated, sometimes for no apparent reason. Yet, the bond will forever be with us.

Dear Julie
