Ernest Nackord Obituary

Ernest J. Nackord III San Francisco Bay Area resident, faithful Giants fan and loving father, Ernest J. Nackord III, passed away on Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ernie was born in San Francisco on June 22, 1948 to Constance Wilson and Ernest Nackord, Jr. He graduated from St. Emydius Grammar School, Lowell High School class of '66 and received his degree in Industrial Design from San Francisco State in 1970. Ernie loved and lived life fully. Baseball, boats, planes, cars, kids and animals were some of his many passions. He was a pilot, race boat driver, storyteller, talented digital artist, as well as a father, brother, son, uncle, coach and friend, loved by many. To his siblings, he was "Smilie." One of Ernie's proudest moments, besides the birth of his children, was taking his Redwood Empire Baseball League team to the 1997 and 1998 Men's Senior Baseball League National Titles. Ernie is survived by his son Michael and daughter Kristie; his brothers Dwight (Patrice), Stephen, Tyler, Sean; his sister Cecilia; his niece Kimberly, nephews D.J. and Patrick (Laura), 3 great nieces, his Tia Sylvia and dearest friends Bob Rice and Peggy Dunne. He was preceded in death by our mother Constance and our brother Paul. Ernie passed with amazing courage, dignity, honor and grace. He taught us love and reconciliation. He will be dearly missed. Friends and family are invited to a funeral mass on Friday, December 21st at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, 1806 Novato Blvd., Novato. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sonoma State University Baseball, attention Coach John Goelz. Reception to follow immediately afterwards at his brother Dwight's house. We spent many happy hours in the Sunset Dist. in S.F. while going to Laguna Honda grammar school and Lowell Hi. He was always a "good" friend ! I wasnt surprised to read of his valiant career during W W II.

I don't know who you Air Warrior folks are, but I want to express my deep appreciation for keeping my brother's guest book online. I wasn't aware that these guest books expire so I was so happy to see that it's still online. I miss my brother tremendously and am continuously amazed by the deep and long lasting friendships he forged. Some of them I knew, others I am still learning about. From the Nackord family to you, thank you for allowing this guest book to live on.

I remember Ernie from Air Warrior and also because he was nuts for baseball. Even though we never met in person, he sent loads of coaching advice when I was involved in coaching my own kids. He was a good guy and I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

I remember Ernie from Air Warrior, but also because he was nuts for baseball. Even though we never met in person, he took the time to send me long emails with advice when I was coaching my own kids in baseball. He was a good guy and I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

Quietly remembering the fun times at the lake, on the water, around the campfire having cocktails or cooking breakfast for the gang. Good times and I am honored to be a part of it. Godspeed, Ernie

Ernie,
You have been taken too soon. I truly miss your long, tangential stories and the great laughs we had together. You are a true friend who taught me so much in work and life. Your love of all the kids kept you young. I hope there is a great ball park to play in where you are; and please say hi to Ouida for us. We all miss you!!

The happiest I every saw Ernie since I met him was after he and Susan fell in love. Vic and I had the greatest times when they came to Grass Valley or when we went to their house in Martinez. I'll miss him dearly and the laughs we all had together.
