To: Linda and to Robert's kids
My name is Marc Gilbert and you DON'T know me, so don't search your brain. I'm attending AICPA's BVFLS conference and just found out the heartbreaking news of Bob's departure from this mortal coil. I'm a CPA by trade, and wanted you to know that many attendees expressed disappointment he was not listed among our speakers. Now we know why he couldn't join us. Bob was a pillar when it came to guidance in many forensic areas, and a splendid author as well. He was kind of like the Rosetta Stone in translating reams of legal records into cogent recommendations. I have many times referred competitors to Bob's works after I prevailed in a case and they wondered why. He'll be sorely missed by many in the profession, and certainly by me. Seldom can you just phone the author of a book and actually talk to him. He was selfless in that respect and I appreciated it a lot. I share his love for sports cars, but it's still a tremendous loss no matter how he departed. I wish you all the best in the future. If it helps at all, the are many who miss him.

As Bob's longtime assistant, I consider myself to be among the most fortunate of people to have known Bob as a generous and supportive employer, as a brilliant mind, and as a great friend. My deepest sympathies to everyone he's left behind -- he shall not be forgotten.
