John Durst Obituary
John Joseph Durst, 57, of Mosinee passed away at 1:28am on Monday, May 19, 2014 at St. Clare's Hospital in Weston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 11am at St. Paul Catholic Church in Mosinee, WI with Fr. Donald Przybylski officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at a later date at St. Michael's Cemetery in Hewitt.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Gates, Darren Lindner, Paul Lindner, Leon Luterbach, Neal Luterbach, John Proulx, Jerome Schiferl, Brian Tomski, Bob Wunrow. Born on February 1, 1957 in Marshfield, WI, he was the son of Raymond J. and Esther H. (Palecek) Durst, Sr. He attended St. Joseph's Parochial School in Hewitt and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School in 1975. He attended Marathon County-Wood Campus, Marshfield and graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1979 with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. He started working at The Mosinee Times in 1979. In 1994, he purchased the newspaper from the Gretchen Bruske family and was the editor and publisher until the present time.
John and Susie Lindner were married on June 23, 1979 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood, WI. John was a member of St. Paul Parish, Mosinee and the Knights of Columbus Council 5488. He loved hunting, fishing, reading, travel, map reading, WWII trivia and spending time with family and friends at the cabin. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Anna Rose, and a loving husband and friend to his wife, Susie.
John is survived by his wife, Susie, and daughter, Anna Rose. He is also survived by his sister, Mary (Thomas) Giffin and family, Abbotsford; sister-in-law, Deborah Durst and family, Marshfield; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Helen Lindner, Loyal; brother-in-laws, Paul (Kathryn) Lindner, Rochester, MN; Gerald (Cindy) Lindner, Lino Lakes, MN; Robert (Anne) Lindner, Rochester, MN; and sister-in-law Therese(Jerome) Meyer, Chanhassen, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Raymond Durst Jr., Godchild Tina (Durst) Wuethrich, and great-niece Olivia Schiferl.
Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee, is in charge of arrangements.

Susie and Anna....I am so sorry for this sudden loss of John. I am so speechless. I have so many great memories of this great man over at Twos. I was devastated to hear of your loss. John was a good man and someone I will always remember fondly. He never failed to brighten my day and make me feel like part of the "gang" at TP Printing Co. when I came for Courier Sentinel papers. We had a lot in common and I greatly enjoyed talking with him.
