John Benowitz Obituary
John Ira Benowitz, 64, of Allentown, died October 12, 2007 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Gresser) Benowitz for the past 39 years. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of Geraldine (Schlechter) Benowitz in Florida and the late Bernard Benowitz. He was a graduate of Syracuse University. He was last employed as a buyer/manager of the Army/Navy store, Whitehall. He previously was an executive at Brooks Shoe Manufacturing and was the proprietor of sporting goods stores. Survivors: A devoted family man, John spent nearly all of his free time with his wife, daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife; mother; daughters, Laurie, wife of Dr. Kevin Bass, of Ambler and Amy, wife of Rob Striem, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sister, Nancy, wife of Tony Greenfield in Florida; his cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Logan and Marley. Services: graveside, 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Keneseth Israel Cemetery, South Whitehall Township. Arrangements by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Allentown. Contributions: American Heart Association, 212 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 or Animals in Distress, 5075 Limeport Pike, Coopersburg, PA 18036.
