Jane Rieger Obituary
Jane M. Rieger, 69, of Lower Saucon Twp. died Monday, March 03, 2014 at St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill. Born in Fountain Hill on October 28, 1944 to the late Theodore H. Rieger and Flora K. (Kunsman) Rieger. After graduation in 1962 from the Saucon Valley High School, she worked for the school district for 51 years until her death as the secretary of the Middle School. She was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Evang. Lutheran Church, Lower Saucon Twp. where she was past secretary of its Council and sang on its choir. Jane was an avid Phillies Fan, enjoyed all types of needlework and an active supporter of the community especially the SV Wrestling Program. She was also the secretary of the Spring Valley Sportsmans Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Saucon Valley Alumni Association. Survivors: Loving siblings: Janet E. of Hellertown, Joan F. (Harold J.) Johnson of Coopersburg, Timothy T., Jeffrey D., both at home; nieces: Jamie Johnson and Jennifer Franco, both in AZ; great niece and nephew: Kaeylee and Creed Shellenberger. Predeceased by a nephew: Gregory J. Johnson.Services: Family and friends are invited to call 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main Street-Hellertown and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the New Jerusalem Evang. Lutheran Church 3323 Apples Church Rd. Bethlehem, followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at New Jerusalem Cemetery, Lower Saucon Twp. The Rev. Tricia A. She and I graduated together from high school She was always a warm and friendly classmate. Although our lives have since taken different routes, it is always sad to read or hear of the death of a former classmate. What a pleasure it was to work with Jane. She loved talking to my kids and all of the children at the school. When I would leave work for the day, she would be sitting on the bench in the pond lobby with her sewing bag working on her next blanket. I walk past that bench now and I think of her. Our thoughts are with Jane's family during this difficult time. She will be missed by many.

It's so hard for me to accept that you are no longer just down the hall from me at work. It was less than a week ago you were showing me pictures of your niece's home in AZ and talking about going out there next winter.
