Virginia Riofski Obituary

Virginia Jordan Riofski
Virginia Jordan Riofski, 85, of 476 Timothy Drive, Bethlehem and formerly of Berwick, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Manor Care in Bethlehem. Born on May 6, 1928 in Berwick, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Virginia (Scrivani) Jordan. A graduate of Berwick High School, class of 1946, Mrs. Riofski was employed in her early years at the A.C. and F., and then for 33 years by the Berwick Area School District as a manager in Cafeteria Services at the Junior High and Middle Schools. A dedicated parishioner of St. Marys Catholic Church, Berwick, she was a member of the Choir, the Pastoral Council, the Parish Council of Catholic Women, and the Bingo Committee. She was also an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, participating in the Ladies Group, while she resided with her daughter and her family in Bethlehem. She was a volunteer at the Berwick Retirement Village and was an avid Bingo player. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Robert C. Riofski, who died on June 30, 1995; and seven siblings, Joanna (Jennie) Jordan Scheno, Della Jordan Ceglarski, Theodore (Teddy) Jordan, Joseph (Josie) Jordan, Jr., Carl M. Jordan, Alex Jordan, and Gerard (Doc) Jordan. Survivors: Surviving are one daughter, Dr. Gina Riofski Scala and her husband, Gabriel J., of Bethlehem; one son, R. Christopher Riofski and his wife, Linda, of Landenberg, PA; four grandchildren, Francesca Marie Scala, Alexa Gabriele Scala, Therese Jordan Riofski, and Nicole Riofski Vietmeier and her husband, Keith; one brother, Louis Jordan and his wife, Doris, of Lewistown, PA, one sister: Cecilia Jordan Riofski of Wilmington, DE; many nieces and nephews; and her four-legged friend, Armando. Services: At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church, 1730 Fowler Ave., Berwick, with the Rev. Francis J. Tamburro, the pastor, officiating and the Rev. Joseph H. Fenessy, retired pastor, concelebrating. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, at the request of the deceased, donations can be made to the Feed the Hungry Program, St. Johns Church, P.O.
