William Chuck Obituary

Chuck, William C.William Charles Chuck, 64, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Bethlehem, died on Friday, April 11, 2014 in the arms of his loving daughter, Alyssha. He was born on August 30, 1949, in Bethlehem. William was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Easton and graduated from Lehigh University in 1975. He was a Claims Manager at Assurant for 30 years until retiring. He was the son of Erma (Kroboth) Chuck and the late William Chuck, Sr. The late Johanna and Anna (a.k.a. "Grammy up the Farm") Kroboth were his maternal grandparents, and the late John and Theresa (a.k.a." Grammy by the Tree") Chuck were his paternal grandparents. The late Gregory John Chuck, formerly of Bethlehem, is the brother with whom he is now united. William was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his intelligence, strength, wisdom, humor, faith, courage, love, humble ways, and the ability to give to others when he himself was suffering so greatly. William defined the word hero. Heaven has gained one of their greatest souls while this world has lost a great human being, but his spirit and love of life and books will remain and live in us all. Survivors: William is survived by his mother, Erma Chuck of Bethlehem, his daughter Alyssha Eve Csuk, resident of Bethlehem, his son Seth Adam Chuck, resident of Bethlehem, and Robin L. Durso of Emmaus (his former wife). His siblings surviving him are Alan F. Chuck of Bethlehem, Anne Keyser and husband Thomas of Emmaus, and Maria Armstrong and husband Donald of Lubbock, TX. Also surviving him are his nephew Jared Armstrong and wife Sam of Plainview, TX; his niece, Cheyenne Keyser of Emmaus, to whom William is her "Superman", his great nieces, Amelia and Catalina Armstrong of Plainview, TX; Aunt Elizabeth Kroboth and Aunt Stella Harryn, both of Hellertown, and Aunt Margaret Baliko and husband Richard of Bethlehem. A special thank you to William's extended family, George and Linda Grzanowicz (close friends-George, you have been like a brother) and Crane Michael Distasio (dear friend and literary colleague); all his co-workers and friends who gave so much love and caring, and also to the hospice nurses and private duty nurses. Thank you all for your devotion and support. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held (TODAY) Monday April 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, 450 E. Washington Ave, Bethlehem. No calling hours. William's services have been entrusted to Cantelmi Funeral Home, Fountain Hill, with online condolences at: www.cantelmifuneralhome.com. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in William's name to the Children's Literacy Foundation, 1536 Loomis Hill Road Waterbury Center, VT 05677.

Alyssha, I just wanted to say that you are a generous, loving daughter. You will meet your dad again. He passed knowing he had a little girl like no other. And he loved you for all you did for him. I hope you feel your dads arms around you when your troubled or stressed from the worlds pressures...

I worked with Bill at Assurant also. He always challenged you to look at things from every angle. Not just in work activities, but in life activities as well. Thoughts and prayers with all.

Bill was a great friend. I remember so many wonderful conversations with him about all aspects of life. He was well read, intelligent and naturally thoughtful. They don't often come along like him. He will be missed.

I worked with Bill at Assurant in Kansas City. Our desks were next to each other and we shared many conversations throughout the years. He was funny and smart, thoughtful and giving. He would often bring gifts of stickers and pictures of animals for my daughter. I will miss his stories, his dry humor and his kindness.

I knew Bill while working with him at the insurance company in Bethlehem PA. I remember his appreciation for books, the beach and ocean. I am honored to have known Bill and meet his children, and share his stories, wisdom and frienship.
May Bill's friends and family find comfort in all their memories.

I am so sorry for your loss Alyssha and Seth. Bill definitely made the workplace more interesting and I will always remember the fun we had at Mutual Benefit Life/Fortis (crazy stories of his past & his organic food obsession!). I also will remember his generosity in inviting us to spend his birthday week at Highpoint North in Ocean City every year! Bill was truly one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

I feel so blessed to have met and be a part of William's life. I wish I had known him sooner! He was a great man and was so strong. He absolutely loved his daughter and respected her as a person! I will always think of you as my other brother William. ... Rest in peace brother
