So sorry to hear of Mr. Schermerhorn's passing. He was my high school music teacher when he was at Taft in the early 1970s. He was such a nice, patient man with all of us in the band. A good friend of my father as well. May he rest in peace.

I am sorry to hear of George's passing. Although I had lost track of him after we both left Walton, I often remembered him as a talented musician and gentle person. I knew he had graduated from Hartwick, as I did, but lost him entirely after that. It is clear he fulfilled his promise of musical talent, and tuned into the man I suspected he would be. I wish I could have known him longer.

I will remember George from Rotary. He was a gentle soul and a true gentleman. George always took the time to ask about developments in the lives of others. I will recall going with George and Warren Armstrong to the annual joint meeting of the Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton Rotary Clubs on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. His music was a great contribution to our community and enriched the lives of many Allentonians. I will miss his warm smile and fellowship.

It is with great sadness that I write in this guest book. George gave me my first job as a music therapist and I am forever grateful for the opportunities he gave me. He was so dedicated to helping others and shared his love and enthusiasm of music with students and staff alike. Prayers to Eunice and the family at this very difficult time.

As a Board Member of the Community Music School for many years, I worked with George and found him wholeheartedly dedicated to the mission of CMS. He was a truly a GENTLE MAN, so thoughtful, always amiable, and gracious in every situation. It was a delight to work with him and a gift to know such a wonderful man.

I was deeply saddened to learn of George's death. I had the pleasure of serving on the Board at Community Music School for several years (a number of those as President) while George was the Director. He became a good friend. He was passionate about music education and worked tirelessly to assure that folks in the Lehigh Valley could study music at the school REGARDLESS OF TALENT OR FINANCIAL MEANS. He was compassionate, and fun loving and just a decent person. The world is a better place from having had him with us. My sincerest sympathies go out to Eunice, the rest of his family and his many friends.
