VIRGINIA SHELTON Obituary

August 15, 1920 ~ October 4, 2010

Virginia Lee Shelton was raised in Indiana and moved to California during the 1940's to reside in Sacramento where she spent the majority of her life. Virginia was a graduate of the University of Indianapolis, IN and, after working in Administration for the State of California Department of Fish and Game for 20 years, retired. She was an avid Rockhound and enjoyed traveling to Reno to play the slots. She loved a good conversation about politics and the stock market as she was well-versed in both subjects.

Virginia was preceded in death by 6 brothers and sisters and her only son, Glen Shelton.Virginia is survived by her nephew and his wife, Jerry and Dianne Pettes, whom she had recently moved here to be near them. She is also survived by her niece Carole (Jack) Witt of Florida and Roland (Tina) Pettes of Oklahoma.

Virginia's family wants to express their sincere gratitude to Julie Garcia who was her long term caregiver and treated Virginia with the utmost kindness, affection and love. The family would also like to thank the wonderful caretakers at Guardian Angel Home Care of Merced for their loving care and devoted attention that they gave to Virginia.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Winton District Cemetery. Ray Reed will officiate.

Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson Family Funeral Chapel of Atwater.
