ELEANOR OLIVAREZ Obituary
Eleanor Agnes Olivarez 86, died at the home of her son on October 11, 2010, surrounded by family and friends. Eleanor (Rep) was born in Amsterdam, California and lived her life in Merced, California.
She married Salvador (Chap) Olivarez on September 20, 1947, at the Sacred Heart Church in Merced. In 1950, they started a family with the birth of a son, James, followed by Irene in 1952, Lorraine in 1956, and Edward in 1960.
She worked and retired from the Merced City School District. She was a secretary at Sheehy Elementary School and a Teachers Aide at Galen Clark Pre-School and Fremont Elementary. Eleanor is survived by: Her sister Evelyn Contreras, her brothers Tony, Daniel, and Ernie Soria. Her surviving children are Jim & Marilyn Olivarez, Irene & Pat Phelan, Lorraine & Marty Read, and Edward & Sandy Olivarez. Grand Children are: Jason & Lindsay Olivarez, Matthew Olivarez, Marie & John Marheineke, Lisa and Ryan Braun, Emily Read, Patricia & Frank Zarate, Edward Olivarez and Steven Olivarez.Great Grand Children are: Mika, Abby, Luci, and Evie Marheineke, Bell Eleanor Braun, Nathan & Elisa Zarate.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm, Rosary will be at 6pm held at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home, 3050 Winton Way in Atwater on Friday October 15, 2010.
Mass will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Sacred Heart Church in Merced and burial to follow at the Calvary Cemetery also in Merced.

Every time I think of Eleanor I go back into time when we were kids playing outside with Edward and Joe Montano, Raymond Cervantes and the end of the day would come for us and Eleanor would call for Edward to come in that could be heard through out 9th street "E D W A R D" time to come in! I would give anything to just hear that one more time, I love that wonderful lady. From the Rodriguez's, our deepest sympathy to the entire Olivarez family, We love you all.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Olivarez family. I have many fond memories of Eleanor. My sister and I used to play at her house with the girls. I'll remember her beautiful smile and warm heart.

Mrs. Olivarez was a bright light and I remember her from when I was in Preschool! She always had a smile and made our classroom a wonderful place to be. I have had the pleasure of seeing Mrs. Olivarez throughout the years and she will be missed! My thoughts and prayers go out to your entire famiy. God Bless

We were saddened to hear of Eleanor's passing, but we will remember her very fondly. She was blessed with a large and loving family that she was able to enjoy throughout her life and into her illness. We will miss her mischevious smile at family gatherings in the future.

I had the privilege to have worked with Eleanor when I first started working for Merced City School. She was a very kind and patient woman. She will be turly missed. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family.
