GEORGE REINS Obituary

June 23, 1930 ~ November 3, 2010

George Fredrick Reins died at his home on November 3, 2010, at the age of 80.He was born to Gervenia and Edward Reins on June 23, 1930, in Merced, California. He was the sixth child out of seven born to the family. George has been a lifelong resident of Merced. George enlisted in the Army in June of 1951 during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan with the US Army Hospital 8164th unit. Returning to Merced in 1953, he quickly opened his first business called California Floor and Linoleum.

He was married to Margaret Sullivan and had one daughter, Cindy Reins Kaier. Cindy currently lives in Broomfield, Colorado with her husband Harry Kaier.

George was the proprietor of California Floor and Linoleum, Fish World and lastly Fort George Western Wear which has been a mainstay on 13th Street for over 56 years.

George is survived by his daughter Cindy, two grandchildren, Derrek and Deanna Kaierof Broomfield, Colorado, a sister, Alice Condit of Fresno and his best friend Jim Boyd of Merced. George has been a long member of the Elks. He was a humorous person who always had a joke or a quip to share.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Plainsburg Cemetery in LeGrand. A celebration of his life will be held at the Merced Elks Club at 3:00 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home.
