JOVITA ALVAREZ Obituary
Jovita Sepulveda Alvarez was born on May 24th of 1931 in McAllen, Texas, daughter of Jose and Juanita Sepulveda Alvarez. She passed away on November 13th of 2010 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, California at the age of 79 and resided in Atwater, California.
Jovita migrated to California's Central Valley in 1965. Contributions to her community included, but were not limited to being an original founder of Golden Valley Health Center; receiving Jefferson Jackson Award; receiving Hispanic Woman of the Year Award, two consecutive years from the California State Senate and the Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, respectively; Assisted in building the Sociedad de Oro # 8 Merced County; Member of Merced County Democratic Central Committee and 26th Assembly District Democratic Committee; recognized for Grassroots Democrat of the year; First Hispanic from Merced County to go to a presidential convention which took place in Miami, Florida in 1972; taught English to farm workers; marched with Cesar Chavez; and was part of the Rural Health Federation.
Jovita was preceded in death by her son Victor Manuel Alvarez and her husband Felix Alvarez.
Jovita is survived by her children Felix Jose Alvarez, Carlos Alvarez, Peter Alvarez, Rosa Maria Chavez, Estevan Martin Alvares, Elsa Vasquez, Elay Alvarez, 23 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, Harry T.F.G., and many friends.
Jovita lived a life full of hard work, joy and love. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all those fortunate enough to have met her.
A public visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Recitation of the Holy Rosary to start at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 18th of 2010 in the Chapel of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Atwater. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 19th of 2010 at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Livingston, California and burial to follow at the Winton District Cemetery in Winton, California.

Estiamda Familia,
Verdaderamente no hay palabras para describir el sufrimiento de perder un ser querido y tal como la Biblia lo indica que la Muerte es nuestro enemigo por que nos deja un gran dolor y sufrimiento.
Sin embargo en la Biblia nos consuela cuando nos dice que llegara el dia en que todos los que estan durmiendo en la muerte volveran a la vida (Juan 5:28,29)Esta es una de las tantas bendiciones que nos da nuestro creador Jehova.
Que maravilloso sera el dia cuando puedan recibir nuevamente a Jovita y disfrutar nuevamente todos juntos como familia.

may the lord keep you and guide you on the wings of an eagle. and give you the strength look up and remember the goodness the lord has given you, a mother to be remembered by all that new her may the lord bless you and all your familes.... were sorry we could not be there for you nativdad and margarita bocanegra are in texas and i just arived home today
