SYLVIA MARISCAL Obituary

April 21, 1944 ~ October 25, 2010

Sylvia Olivia Mariscal of Lilliwaup, WA, formerly of Merced, CA made heaven a little more funny and, we know, a little more tastier, as she entered into the kingdom on Monday, October 25, 2010 after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.

Sweet Sylvia was born on April 21, 1944, to the proud parents of Benjamin and Louise Macias. Her father passed away in WWII and was never able to see or hold her. We're sure this reunion was a wondrous one.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Louise Melgoza Macias and her father, Benjamin Macias. Sylvia temporarily leaves behind a devoted, beloved and adoring husband, Ysidro Mariscal Jr. All our family thanks God for blessing us with such a precious and caring father. It was a privilege to watch you care so tenderly for our mom, sister, cousin and friend.

She also leaves behind 4 children and their spouses and 7 grandchildren: eldest daughter, Dennise Mariscal (Petrucci) and grandson, Lucca Petrucci (17) of Madera, CA; daughter, Jody Mariscal (Barnes), husband Scott and grandchildren Milanna (14) and Isaac(13) Barnes of Logan, UT; eldest son, Derek Mariscal, wife Tammi and grandaughter Haidyn (6 ) of Lake Don Pedro, CA; son Tim Mariscal, wife Kristy and grandchildren Caitlin (10), Lauren (8), and Mason (3) of Merced, CA. Sister, Becky Cappelutti of Bass Lake, CA, and countless beloved cousins and friends.

Sylvia loved life and was at peace with God's will. She became Christian 13 years ago and lived out her redeemed life with honesty, joy and thankfulness. In her final days she was able to witness all of her family come to the Lord at her bedside.

Mom's strength and zest for life will live on through her family, although the cooking won't be as good or plentiful, nor the stampin up cards as creative or beautiful, we do know we will continue to laugh as hard as ever- because mom taught us, through her life, how to do that!! Mostly, mom was a servant who knew how to love people right where they were. She fully loved her husband of 42 years and her grandchildren-she NEVER missed an opportunity to send a gift or card to them. Her servant heart was especially evident when she helped her sister, Becky, through Uncle Ronnie's heart transplant and his early death.

Sylvia....it was our privilege. We all look forward to laughing with you...in eternity. Your family. A Celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Yosemite Church, 2230 East Yosemite Avenue, Merced CA.

The family suggests remembrances be made to the Memorial Account for Sylvia Olivia Mariscal, C/O the Patelco Credit Union, 3009 Strato Fortress Avenue, Atwater CA 95301.

Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Funeral Home in Merced.

Dear Mariscal Family. I will NEVER forget how Sylvia touched my heart and spirt. I have been truley blessed to have had her in my life.I am asked almost daily by people that have met her while working in my salon in Hoodsport about her. All say the same thing: "she was a breeze from Heaven" ...shall she rest there until we can all meet with her again. We love you, Sylvia Marilyn Clary (Hoodsport Mane)

Mariscal Family,
Sylvia was the best friend a person could ever have and the most caring. I will miss her so very much. Even as sick as she was she still worried about others. Words cannot express how much she touched my heart.

I have known Sylvia Mariscal for 30 plus years and loved every moment that I spent with her either in her home or her shop. Bruce and I so enjoyed having meals with her and Sid in their home in Lillywaup and in Merced. Always laughing and touching peoples lives, she will be truly missed. She is again at peace in God's arms. No more pain. Till we meet again dear friend. We will miss you.

Sylvia was not only my "nail lady" but a dear friend - like a 2nd mom! She touched many lives and was always cheery. She endured much in her life, yet she remained strong. I pray for Tim and Kristy and the rest of the family, that you find some solace in Sylvia's peace. I will truly miss her.
