Teresa and Kate's family,
Kate and I were collegues at Solvay in The Netherlands (20 years ago). We shared an office together. I have many fond memories of that time. We've laughed together so many times. I also met her parents in Solihull. I've been trying to find her for many years and I was shocked to find out that she passed away. Dear Kate, rest in peace and may god bless your wife Teresa and your family during this difficult time

Kate and I were neighbors for years on Croydon Ave. My boys called her "Auntie Cake." We moved to Camas, WA 18 months ago and I just learned of her passing. She was one of the sweetest, giving people I've ever met. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her!

Life's known for throwing curveballs at you.. but this one feels so unfair.
Dear Kate!
What a shock to hear you're no longer a physical part of this world. But you'll never leave, because you're loved by so many people whom's hearts you've touched. Like mine.. You've been a VIP during a part of my life. I have fond memories of sharing laughter till the point of almost peeing my pants and long talks about life. Thanks for being you!
Dear Teresa, thank you for being the one for Kate. Take good care of yourself, Kate's inside you as well.
Dear Mom Allen, my heart goes out to you and your family. I can't even start to imagine what this means for you. Take good care of each other.

Dear Family of Kate,
a unique person and a great softball player has left us.
I remember Kate as a cheerful and honest woman who really had attention for you, as a person. Her questions were always right to the point.
I played with Kate at HCAW. Me being a catcher, it was great to have Kate on second base. We had a lot of fun trying to get people out on 1st base.
She was reliable, consistent and a great team player.
I am very happy I have met her.
Kate, I hope you have fun in Heaven!

How lives touch in a very special way.
You know ! There are people that you can look at and know you like them. Although they don't push themselves into the forefront, you know there is some thing special about them. Kate was one of these people.
I first met Kate over twenty years ago, just for one day, she must have been in her early twenties. She had come over from Holland where she was playing softball in the Dutch league. She arrived in the morning then left that same afternoon. Pam my sister was up and ready sitting in her chair, bald headed, but in good form, smiling. This day was special as her friend Kate was coming to visit. I enviously watched them, it was something good to see. They had a bond, were relaxed in each others company. They had played GB softball together, she the rooky and Pam the veteran. They wasted no time chatting away, although the sickness tried to cloud the day. She had made the time to visit our Pam who was sick with cancer. That was that! I never saw Kate again till fifteen years later.
The GB Softball team was selected and the girls were paired up by email as training buddies. There was a girl emailing, encouraging, asking our Laura her training schedule. The rolls were changed, our Laura the rooky and Kate the veteran. The international tournament arrived, but it was only on the bus that we got to talking, a strange familiarity between us. Then Kate asked if we knew a family, and she started to describe my sisters family. This was the same Kate! The one whom on more then a few occasions, I have since heard had been back to check up on our Pam's young girls, helped where needed, even taken them to London shopping and become much loved. She had a way of keeping out of the lime light but being where she was needed.
The tournament week went quickly and I can't help but feel cheated, because the short time was special, as she was a very special Lady.
Very fondly remembered and loved.

Teresa and Allen Family, I can not imagine the pain you are all feeling in your loss. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
Kate, what can I say that hasn't already been said? You were so gracious to my when I met you at your Ceremony with Teresa. You just glowed with warmth and Love. I felt as I had know you forever. I will always remember you and your BIG smile and the way you inter-acted with all of your extended family and friends, at such a beautiful day in your life with Teresa. I will always remember you for your courage and conviction. May you soar with the Angles for they are privileged to have you in their presence. God bless you and your loved ones always.
A new friend who will never forget you. With Love.

One of the Funky Diva's of Softball has left the field. I was lucky enough to play with Kate for 6 years in Holland, at HCAW. Hearing the news made me sad. Seeing your pictures and your smile, even with your short hair, reminds me of many great moments. Funny enough not of winning games but of Freddy Mercury and Monserat Caballe, En Vogue , M&M's and sawing new curtains for your home. And living the good life, with friends, eating, drinking and laughing.
Showing up for every practice and having fun playing the game. Your spirit was unique, as you were unique.
Kate, it was an honour to be your teammate.
Teresa, friends and family, my sympaties.

To my perplexity and dismay I heard the sad news and still I can’t believe it.
Kate was our 2nd base player for many years in the gold softball team HCAW in Holland.
We won and celebrated many Dutch and European Championships also through her influence.
Kate was our best 2nd base player ever and also a sweetheart to get on with.
By way of the champion pictures in our canteen she will always remain visible to us and in my heart.

Participating in July's Walk for Life was one of the most meaningful experiences of my own life. I hadn't seen Kate in about two years. I arrived just in time for the "silent lap" in honor of lost loved ones, and walked around the track with Kate, Teresa, and the rest of the team with arms linked. Kate sat down for a rest, and I continued to walk with Teresa, who I'd never met, and who told me she and Kate had just become engaged the night before. My heart swelled with happiness, knowing that my dear friend had found love and was ready to shout it from the rooftops.
It is difficult to describe all the love and camaraderie that cradled us all on that day. I lost a little piece of myself with Kate's passing, but I will always carry a little piece of Kate with me, and for that, I am a better person.

Less than a month before her passing she wrote this about the unconditional joy, happiness, and love she felt for life in spite of her fight over cancer that she had endured during the past few years...this is the epitome of Linus. A perfect example of the eloquent, enduring, optimistic, persevering soul she will forever be. To her friends and teammates Linus was our keeper, a protector. She looked after us when we needed some guidance and or backup! There was never any question as to where her loyalty lay. Her energy is alive and well, and lives on in so many of us. Stories and memories of her sharp humor and wit will forever be shared over a latte and carriage ride in some European city, and a celebratory pint and stogie after an all-nighter! Love never dies, souls are immortal, so we'll see you again my friend. Love, Jules

It was an honor to have played softball with you in Holland and be your roommate as well. I feel extremely honored to have you as my friend! One of my favorite memories is taping our rendition of En Vogue's song "Never Gonna Get It" about winning the Dutch Championships. What I'd give to perform that with you Madelon, and Yvonne again and wear those long black wigs and short black dresses! What a sight that was to be seen! You made my Dutch experience amazing and unforgettable! And thank you for honoring Paul and I by standing up in our wedding as one the my bridesmaids! Kate, though I did not know you for years and years,I felt like I did. What a stellar human being- kind and selfless, beautiful inside and out. Your courage and strength were amazing. The love you gave to others was beautiful- I know I felt it everytime I was near. The love you and Teresa shared was so beautiful. It is heartbreaking to know you are not together. It shows you that life is not always fair. Maybe you were needed in heaven. I know you worry about Teresa. Friends and family will help her to get thru this difficult time.

To Teresa and the rest of Kate's family:
Kate was a dear friend and even more, a dear woman who dared to live her dreams. I'm so glad for her that she found Teresa and had the chance to know love given and returned to her in the way a partnership does. I know too that Kate loved her parents, siblings, nieces, cousins and the myriad of friends who were graced with having had her shine a bit of her sunshine on their dreams.
Her courage in the face of her cancer diagnosis was nothing short of amazing. I was always bouyed by talking with her - regardless of her circumstance at the time. To know that I have only memories of that laugh and smile is so difficult - and I'm so grateful to have them, as I know we all are.
I wish you peace. Dream on, fellow travelers.
