Myriam was born on March 30, 1933 in Granada, Nicaragua. She went to the presence of our Lord on October 13, 2010. She was blessed to have two wonderful men in her life who preceded her in death, Ernest Slickting and Carlos Reyes.

She was the proud mother of Caroline Williams who is married to Daniel Williams; and Juan C. Reyes who is married to Margaret Reyes. She was the adoring grandmother to Danielle and Michelle Williams. She also leaves behind her brother Ernesto Alaniz and his wife Mary along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eduardo and Carolina Alaniz as well as her brother Jaime Alaniz, her sister Lucy Sheldon and her aunt Mar¡a Alaniz.

Myriam lived an exciting life which began in Nicaragua. She and her family who were blessed to have dual citizenship lived and traveled back and forth between the United States and Nicaragua. In 1972, the family survived the devastating earthquake in Managua. They were forced to leave Nicaragua during the civil war in 1979 when they fled to Panama and then the United States.

It was time to make a new home and the family settled in Campbell and San Jose, where Myriam supported her family by a career in property management ultimately working for Catholic Charities. She was a devout Roman Catholic in the Nicaraguan tradition.

Funeral services will be Friday October 22, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Lucy Catholic Church 2350 Winchester Blvd., Campbell, CA 95008. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to St. Lucy Parish School. Local arrangements by DARLING FISCHER CAMPBELL MEMORIAL CHAPEL.
