Manuella Sosa

Resident of San Jose

Manuella Sosa, 94, passed away peacefully, Nov. 25, 2010, at home, surrounded by family and friends.

She came from Cordoba, Spain at age 4, living in Jackson, Gilroy, Monterey and San Jose. Married Frank Sosa in 1935, had four children, losing one son to cancer at age 8 years. Survived by daughters, Shirley and Anita, and son, Tom. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sister Alice Gonzales, numerous nieces and nephews.

Manuella enjoyed designing and creating Spanish dance dresses for her daughters. Loved baking treats for family. Raising canaries, playing games with grandchildren and teaching them arts and crafts. Also gardening, flower arranging and being the chief babysitter for all the grandchildren. Manuella worked in the canneries in San Jose to help support her family.

She accepted limitations of mobility with grace and dignity as she was cared for at home with loving help from her daughters, her grandson, Anthony Bryan, and support from family neighbors and friends.

Rosary, Tuesday 11/30/10 at 7 pm (visitation 5-9pm). Funeral, Wednesday 12/1/10 at 11am. Both services at Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester Blvd. Condolences at limafamilysanta clara.com
