Since he turned 18, Alexsander's life was tumultuous and difficult. Late August this year he returned home to live with his parents and begin earning his AA at West Valley College. He took up drumming again and rejoined the Macintosh Pipe Band. He helped in ways he could and took an interest in his sister's life again. He went camping with his family and friends where he took long walks on all of the trails at Memorial Park in San Mateo County. He gave his family renewed hope for his future. The memories of these past weeks are a precious gift from him to his family. He was an incredibly bright and intense person. His trademark, winning smile is forever etched in the minds of those who knew him. His soul is now free to soar.
A funeral will be held Friday, October 15th at 3 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 12770 Saratoga Ave, Saratoga.
In lieu of flowers donations will help the family memorialize Alexsander by building a commemorative bench along one of the trails of Memorial Park in San Mateo County. Donations are tax-deductible. On a Special Day of Remembrance:
My memories of Alex include the Band's Las Vegas Trip-I remember teaching Alex how to play Keno. Another time, Alex's first solo contest - he was so happy, and that SMILE! It was brighter than Las Vegas. I will always remember Alex, his enthusiasm for drumming, and his friendship. We will miss you, Alex.

Alex two years ago at our 50th Wedding Anniversary I really felt like things were going to be better for you. The nice talks we had when we were together also your smile and laugh at the Anniversary dinner. I wish things had been better. Rest in peace. Love Grandma

This summer I had the best conversation with Alex ever. He was laughing and smiling and genuinely excited about going to school and returning to drumming. He was a blessing in so many ways and his passing is a reminder that life is short - so love deeply and often for we only have today. Teri

Alex I cant believe youre gone!!! This is something I never thought would happen. I was getting excited to see you at my birthday party tomorrow, and now I have to see you at your own funeral. The 4 years we shared off an on together is sacred to me and I will cherish them for the rest of my life. You will always be in my heart and I ...will never forget you. I first met Alex 7 years ago when he joined the drum core; always pleasant, with a smiling face and a great snare drummer. I was looking forward to having him join us again! I pray that he is now at peace, and want you to know you are in my prayers at this time of such deep sorrow!

On behalf of the MacIntosh Pipe Band, as well as personally, I send deepest sympathy and love to you MacDougalls. Alex was unfailingly cheerful and friendly when around the band and made a connection with so many people in a short time. I am so sorry we will not get to have him as a part of our musical family, but sorrier still that you have lost a son and brother. Please ask for anything we can do to help you... much love, Jan
