Resident of Nevada
Arthur John Collmeyer, age 70, of Incline Village passed away on September 28th 2011. Preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Bernice Collmeyer of Hoyleton IL and his sister Karen Grimes. Survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 49 years, Merlyn. His children; Cheryl (Gary) Sankary, Amy (Robert) Smiley, and Steve (Elaine) Collmeyer. Brother Michael (Pat) Collmeyer and Brother-in-Law Clark Grimes. Grandchildren; Nate, Eric, and Laura, Rachel and Jillian.
Art was a leader in Silicon Valley, he was a mentor to many and enjoyed making ideas and inventions become reality. Art enjoyed traveling, golf, sailing and most of all spending time with friends and family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 11 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 14103 Saratoga Ave., Saratoga. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Art Collmeyer may be made to Stanford Cancer Center. Please make checks payable to Stanford University and indicate "in memory of Art Collmeyer" in the memo section. My sympathy to the Collmeyer family. The Collmeyer, Fricke and Reinkensmeyer families have a very strong connec tion. Mr Athur Fricke sold "the store" to my grandfather, William C. Reinkensmeyer in 1921. Mrs Martha Fricke and my grandmother Dorothea were like sisters. In 1960 shortly after the death of my grandfather, Mr Fricke was insistent that my dad, Edgar W. Reinkensmeyer be appointed to the Hoyleton State and Savings Bank board, a role that my dad truly enjoyed for nearly 40 years. I remember Bud and Bern at the store, church and Lions Club, they were dear friends to my parents. My dad passed away this past February, mother is living in an assisted living facility. Mother and I attended the memorial for Bernice in September.
Again my sincere sympathy and Blessings to your family at this time.

To say that Art Collmeyer changed my life is an understatement. I had the joy of working for Art in the Stac and Hifn days. Among many other things, I learned about strategy, the 30,000 foot view, hockey sticks, and who really pays for a free lunch. Art believed in me and my abilities in a way that I had never known or expected from a boss. I learned to trust my instincts and to be strong. Art had that effect on many people. Those of us who had the priceless opportunity to be mentored by Art are better people for it. It is so sad to think that we will never see his bright smile and sparkling eyes again. His time on this earth was limited and there will be no more chances to listen to the world according to Art, but his legacy will live in in those of us that learned from him.

I knew Art thru business dealings and became fond of him as a result. He was a man of high moral character who had an obvious love for his family and friends and who always did the right thing.
