Doris DeNardo ("Gram")

Resident of Belmont, CA

90 years young, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 due to complications of kidney and heart failure.

She passed with family and friends by her side, and while holding grand-daughter Stacy's hand.

Gram was born on November 8, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA, to Harry and Emily Walliser. She was the beloved sister of Mary, Ruth and Earnest. She married her husband John DeNardo in Philadelphia in the 1940s. They relocated to Burlingame, CA and then to Belmont in the early 1950s where Doris lived the remainder of her life. She had one daughter, 4 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Gram was very active in raising her grandchildren, especially Stacy, and her great-grandchildren Caiti and Jack. Gram was a surrogate grandmother and day care provider to many children throughout the years within the community and touched the lives and hearts of all she knew. Her generous and nurturing spirit will live on in the lives of many children.

Doris is survived by her daughter Diane Hanselman of Tucson, AZ: her grand-daughter Stacy VerBrugge and husband Rodney of Belmont, CA; grand-daughter Rebecca Hanselman and grandson Robert Hanselman both of Tucson, AZ; great-grandchildren Caitlin VerBrugge, Jack VerBrugge, Cassandra Hanselman, Junior Martin; Richard Hanselman III; nieces Gale DiPaolo and Diane Bradshaw & their loving families; beloved pets/nurse dogs Easy Bake and Autumn.

Doris is predeceased by: her husband John DeNardo (June 1989); grandson Richard Hanselman II (May 2009); beloved son-in-law Richard Hanselman of NJ (Feb 2005); siblings Mary Barrager of NY, Ruth Freeman of NJ and Ernie Walliser of VA.

Services will be held at Skylawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Sunday, June 19, 2011. Please visit www.lifemarkgroup.com for more information.
