Geraldine Thompson Obituary

Geraldine Polite Thompson

Resident of San Jose

Born May 20, 1920 passed away November 20, 2010. A native of Seattle, she spent her adult years in California. She attended SF State and was a charter member of Alpha Omega Sorority. Upon graduation in 1942, she taught elementary school in Monterey. There, she met her dashing husband Navy Lt. Jack Thompson, who preceded her in death in 2005 after 63 years of marriage. They settled in Belmont and raised two children. After 28 years, they moved to The Villages, San Jose in 1976, where she lived until her death.

Gerry loved dancing, and was a charter member of the Clod Hoppers and Belmont Cotillion. She volunteered many years at Alexian Brothers Hospital in San Jose, and served as President of the Hospital Volunteer League. Gerry loved to play golf and entertain. Aside from visits from her family and grandchildren, Gerry most looked forward to her bride games with dear friends in the Villages.

She is survived by her son, William Thompson of Telluride, CO, a daughter, Jacqueline Greiner of Norwalk, CT, and four grandchildren: Chad, Nick, Fiona, and Jill.
