Nell, Herb was a joy to be around, I'll never forget one day when
I was sitting next to him at a Rotary Lunch, the club got into and
argument about a small bill the club had to pay. After about 10
minutes of this, Herb said, if you put it on my bill could I eat my salad now?
In Sympathy,

Herb, you are a pillar! To go to work every day, walk up the steps to your office, take business phone calls at your desk, and then take time to go out to lunch to visit or conduct business while in your upper 90's is absolutely amazing!

I too sold bargin Gasoline at Urichs Beh Hur's at three spots on the San Francisco peninsulla.Terrible Herbst & Rotton Robbie were the ones most difficult to undersell. Routine had me in thier stations three times a week talking prices and promotional events.I am proud to have been , with Robbie at the forfront of so many (Gas Wars), where Regular gasoline prices dropped to a public pleasing , 23.9/10's of a cent per gallon in the mid ninteen sixties. ( You could say , we lost a little on every gallon , but made up for it in volume .(^ ;. - Ben Hur could never match Robbies Premiums givaways.Great sales compitition .Blue collar innovatior, friend to drivers all over the state...
