Leopold Steinert Obituary

Leopold Adam Steinert

Resident of San Jose

Passed away on November 8, 2010. He was born in Chicago on September 23, 1921 to Leopold and Aleksandra Steinert. And so we mark the beginning and end of a life.

Leo was a child of the Great Depression, a highly decorated veteran of WWII, and a talented and accomplished professional engineer. He was also a pilot, an artist, a photographer, a gourmet chef, a storyteller, and a philosopher. More importantly, he was a loving husband of 66 years, a guiding and caring father, a doting grandfather, and a novice great-grandfather. He was always steadfast and true to his friends and his principles.

There is so much more to Leo's life and he will be missed dearly by those who love him.

Leo is survived by Eleanor, loving wife of 66 years; brother Leonard of Chicago; daughter Christine Driedger (Skeeter), son Fred Steinert (Barbara), son Scott Steinert (Diana), and their families.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 5th at The Villages in San Jose.
