Paul Rossi Obituary

Paul S. Rossi

Resident of Redwood City

Born in Akron Ohio July 19, 1929 and Alive in Christ October 15, 2010. Youngest of 8 adored and loved children of Filomena and Angelo Rossi. Paul began life in a tough year, but learned quickly from his older brothers how to crawl under the neighbor's chicken coops in Akron for eggs and grab a few ears of corn on the way. They also got him hooked on golf at the age of 12. His two favorite places were either in church or on the golf course. He loved his Catholic faith and was a devout member of St. Vincent's in Akron Ohio and later Mt. Carmel Parish in Redwood City where Pastor Balleza was quoted as saying "We are missing one of our pillars" when he moved July 1, 2010 to Santa Rosa CA. Being an Italian, family dinners and card games were cherished as were every family member. He kept in touch with nearly everyone he ever knew through his letter writing. He moved to Redwood City when he was discharged from the military and lived with his mother briefly before meeting Carol Tracy on a blind date set up by his niece Carole Guanuario. Six months and a couple of wonderful letters later in 1956, they were married. He graduated from San Jose State University while working full time for Safeway. He retired June 2010 of this year from the Sequoia Station Safeway in Redwood City. I don't believe Safeway was aware they had an 81 year old working for them. He happily greeted everyone and was the only employee allowed to wear his signature hat.

He leaves behind 1 living sister, Vilma Merendino, Akron Ohio, 3 memory filled children Steven Rossi (The Moose) of Vancouver Washington, RaLinda Ginocchio (Princess) of Santa Rosa and Tracy Kirincic (Baby Doll) of Mountain View CA, 5 grandchildren, Nicolette Grant, Anthony Kirincic, Carlea Rossi, Julia Kirincic and Caroline Kirincic all residing in California and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Carol Rossi, and 4 brothers and two sisters.

There will be a mass on October 29, at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 300 Fulton Street Ave. Redwood City.

Dad, every once in awhile you visit me in my dreams and you are always happy! I love you. Your love for life and positivity rubbed off on all of us. Hope still lives in my heart and so does your smile and laughter. You would adore Athena your great granddaughter! She´s got your beautiful brown eyes!

Dad, the world has changed so much since you went to heaven, but my love for you has not. I miss you and your birthday phone calls, your walks with Lucky, your voice and your laughter. I hope you and mom are happy again together forever. Thanks for all your words of support for me and your granddaughters. You are a very important part of their childhood to this day. What a great grandpa, you really love them and supported them, in sports and daily life. You will never be forgotten, you are in all our memories. Love you, RaLinda

Grandpa oh silly fellow chocoholic, ice cream Sunday eating, Golf swinging, church going, hug giving, Lucky walking, Giants cheering, Notre Dame (lately) crying for crying out loud, hat wearing, church singing, check signing, giving, loving, caring Grandpa. I miss you, forever will miss you. But for all of the above things (plus many many more) I will always carry your memories in my heart. See you soon! (well hopefully not too soon) And don't worry about all this crying and everything down here, as you always said "there is just something in my eye" Love you very much

Paul,

You are missed by many. You were a central figure for the family, a guiding force for the path that the family would take. Although you might not be here physically your presence will be felt by all for many years to come. I know you are in a better place now, enjoying a reunion with your wife and many family members. As you have taught us, all things are possible with Christ. God willing when the time comes I look forward to seeing you on the other side.

Tracy and Family,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Just keep him close to your heart and he and your mom will be with you everyday. Keep the tradition of your family alive for them and they'll be seeing it through all of you.

I guess my Great Uncle Paul was closer to me and my siblings than any of my grandfather's other siblings. He always visited and remained a part of our extended family for my entire life. "Uncle" Paul was always sweet, courteous and devote. He really understood the meaning of family and embraced us all. We will forever remember him.

Vilma, Sam and ALL the Rossi family.....during a person's lifetime there is always one individual that passes thru that is special...in mine, that was Paul. We went to grade and high school together, played ball side by side on the North Hill athletic teams, and were very close until Paul moved out west. Our relationship continued with his "annual golf visits". This year "SOMETHING" was different...several times while taking him home after daily Mass at ST. Anthony's, Paul would say...."Bob, I don't think I'll be back next year"...Paul was right, I'm sure he knew something we didn't know. He was a super person that greatly affected many lives, and I was privleged to be one of them. May he rest in peace....he deserves it!!

Uncle Paul. We will miss you. This year was so very special reconnecting with you and of my great first cousins. Your love of golf just might get me finally to the golf course and hit a couple of balls in your honor. Love, Laurel Tracy

I will never forget the kindness you always showed your children's friends, the love the gave to your wife and children, and the strength you demonstrated in caring for your children after their mother died. You were a surrogate father for many of us and though I hadn't seen you for years, I have always remembered you fondly. You will be missed, but there is comfort in knowing you are at peace.
