Robert Wantin Obituary

Robert Gray Wantin

Resident of San Carlos

1958 - 2010

The Wantin Family mourn the sudden passing of our dear son, brother and uncle, Robert Wantin. Heart failure took Robert on November 27, 2010.

Robert was born in San Francisco, March 5,1958, to Barbara and Ray Wantin. He was a resident of San Carlos from childhood, attending Clifford Elementary, McKinley Jr. High, San Carlos High and Ca¤ada College.

As a baby, Robert was brought up around the sounds and smells of a machine shop. His mechanical inclinations lead him to a life-long passion for cars and airplanes. The majority of Rob's working career was in the family tool and die business. He also worked in automotive shops specializing in Ford Mustangs which were his favorite cars. He was a member of the Nor Cal Shelby Club and participated in track events as well as judging.

Rob's second love was animals. From a mini-silkie chicken to generations of Yorkies, Rob cared for them all. He always had a gentle touch with even the smallest of animals.

The perfect description of Robert was that "he was a gentle giant". At 6'4", he towered above most in height and kindness. Bob, as most called him, was good natured and completely selfless with his time and expertise. Bob was always there to help with a smile on his face.

A "Celebration of Life" was held Dec. 11th at CreoLa Restaurant in San Carlos. Family, friends, and neighbors shared stories of the many kindnesses Bob bestowed. A central theme emerged and was repeated, "he was the nicest man I've ever known". Rob would be pleased with this legacy.

Robert, we still can't believe you are gone. We love you dearly and miss you, Mom and Dad, sister Barbara Wade and her husband John, sister Susan Larsen, niece Tiffany Larsen, niece Julie Meridian and her husband Alan, niece Bonnie Wade and nephew James Wade.
